Ukrainian Official Yermak Resigns Amid Corruption Probe Surrounding Zelenskyy

In a significant shake-up within Ukraine’s leadership, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Andriy Yermak, the head of the presidential office and one of his closest advisors, has submitted his resignation letter.

“I am grateful to Andriy for always presenting the Ukrainian position in the negotiation track exactly as it should be. It has always been a patriotic position,” Zelenskyy said in a video statement, acknowledging Yermak’s contributions during his tenure.

The resignation comes amid heightened scrutiny after Ukrainian anti-corruption investigators raided Yermak’s home. While the president did not elaborate on the specific reasons behind the resignation, Yermak had confirmed earlier on Friday that Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) were conducting “procedural actions” at his residence.

“The investigators have no obstacles. They were given full access to the apartment, my lawyers are on site, interacting with law enforcement officers. From my side, I have full cooperation,” Yermak stated in a Ukrainian-language post.

Yermak has been a pivotal figure in Zelenskyy’s administration since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. As the president’s chief of staff, he has played a crucial role in Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts, representing the country in international negotiations and coordinating with Western allies on military and financial support.
