Former Prince Andrew Relocates from Royal Lodge Amid New Epstein Revelations

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, has vacated his longtime residence at Royal Lodge near Windsor Castle earlier than anticipated following fresh document releases from the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. The 65-year-old brother of King Charles III departed the property on Monday and has relocated to the monarch’s Sandringham estate in eastern England, according to Britain’s Press Association.

British media outlets report that Mountbatten-Windsor will temporarily reside at Wood Farm Cottage while his permanent home on the Sandringham estate undergoes renovations. The move, originally announced last October when Charles stripped him of his royal titles, was not expected to take place until spring.

The accelerated departure coincides with Thames Valley Police launching an investigation into allegations that Epstein transported a second woman to Britain for sexual encounters with Mountbatten-Windsor. The alleged victim’s attorney told the BBC that such an encounter occurred in 2010 at Royal Lodge itself.

These new accusations are separate from the previously reported claims by Virginia Giuffre, who alleged she was trafficked to Britain to have sex with Andrew in 2001 when she was 17 years old. Giuffre died by suicide last year.

Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing in his relationship with Epstein and has not publicly responded to the latest trafficking allegations. However, his name appears multiple times throughout the approximately three million pages of documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice last Friday.

Among the revelations, an email dated March 23, 2011, from an exotic dancer’s lawyer claims Epstein and Mountbatten-Windsor requested her participation in a threesome at Epstein’s Florida residence. The legal representatives alleged that after initially hiring her to dance, the pair “prevailed upon her to engage in various sex acts” during an encounter in early 2006. The woman reportedly received only $2,000, not the $10,000 promised, and her lawyer offered to settle the matter confidentially for $250,000.

“My client has not pursued her claims against your client until this time because she is not proud of the circumstances of that night,” the lawyer wrote. “She was working as an exotic dancer, but she was treated like a prostitute.”

Other correspondence between Epstein and someone believed to be Mountbatten-Windsor shows Epstein offering to arrange a date with a 26-year-old Russian woman. The individual, who signs simply as “A,” later suggests dinner with Epstein in London, either at a restaurant or Buckingham Palace.

It should be noted that the appearance of names in these documents does not necessarily indicate wrongdoing, as Epstein maintained an extensive network of high-profile connections.

The former prince’s residence at Royal Lodge has been a longstanding point of contention between the king and his brother. After ascending the throne in 2022, Charles attempted to relocate his brother to a smaller property on the Windsor Castle estate, but Mountbatten-Windsor resisted, citing a lease that extended through 2078.

Pressure intensified in October as public officials and citizens raised questions about the favorable terms of Mountbatten-Windsor’s lease on the 30-room mansion and surrounding grounds, which are managed by the Crown Estate. The Crown Estate oversees properties throughout Britain that, while technically owned by the monarchy, are managed for the benefit of British taxpayers.

In contrast, the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where Mountbatten-Windsor now resides, is the king’s personal property, giving Charles more direct control over his brother’s housing situation.

The relocation represents a significant downgrade for the former royal and demonstrates the monarchy’s ongoing efforts to distance itself from the Epstein scandal, which continues to cast a shadow over the royal family despite their attempts to move beyond the controversy.
