A complex legal dispute over the estate of Virginia Giuffre, the most prominent accuser of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, began in an Australian court on Friday as multiple parties seek control of her assets following her death by suicide in April.

Giuffre, who died at age 41 at her farm in Western Australia without leaving a will, had become widely known for her allegations against powerful figures in Epstein’s circle, including a high-profile lawsuit against Prince Andrew that was settled in 2022 for an undisclosed sum.

Two of Giuffre’s adult children, Christian, 19, and Noah, 18, initiated proceedings in June at the Western Australia Supreme Court to be appointed administrators of their mother’s estate. Their petition covers property in Western Australia, where Giuffre had resided for years, and potential revenue from her recently published memoir “Nobody’s Girl.”

Released posthumously last month, the memoir details Giuffre’s allegations of being sexually trafficked as a teenager by Epstein to wealthy and influential individuals, including King Charles III’s brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew. Throughout the legal proceedings, Mountbatten-Windsor consistently denied the allegations and claimed no recollection of meeting Giuffre, despite photographic evidence suggesting otherwise. The royal was stripped of his titles due to his association with Epstein.

The brothers’ application faces opposition from Cheryl Myers, Giuffre’s former housekeeper and caregiver, and Karrie Louden, her Perth-based attorney. Both women have filed competing claims seeking to be named administrators of the estate instead.

Given the complexity of the case, the court appointed a temporary administrator earlier this week to manage Giuffre’s assets while the legal proceedings continue. Friday’s hearing primarily addressed procedural matters, with attorneys discussing whether additional parties should be included in the case, such as Giuffre’s daughter (who cannot be identified for legal reasons) and Robert Giuffre, her estranged husband.

Court documents revealed that Virginia Giuffre had separated from her husband and children earlier this year. At the time of her death, she was facing charges of violating a family violence restraining order related to an incident in February and had been scheduled to appear in court regarding the matter.

The dispute highlights the complicated legacy of a woman whose public accusations helped bring attention to Epstein’s criminal enterprise and its powerful connections. Giuffre’s allegations were instrumental in the growing scrutiny of Epstein, which ultimately led to his arrest in 2019 on sex trafficking charges. Epstein died in prison while awaiting trial, with authorities ruling his death a suicide.

The legal battle over Giuffre’s estate comes at a time when her memoir has renewed public interest in the Epstein case and the alleged involvement of prominent individuals in his trafficking network. “Nobody’s Girl” represents potentially valuable intellectual property that could generate significant royalties, adding financial stakes to an already emotionally charged legal proceeding.

The court scheduled another hearing for next year to continue addressing the competing claims. Legal experts suggest that cases involving international assets and posthumous publishing rights can take considerable time to resolve, particularly when multiple parties assert legitimate connections to the deceased.
