A man accused of threatening behavior toward former Prince Andrew pleaded not guilty in a London court on Friday, as legal troubles continue to mount for the disgraced royal.

Alex Jenkinson, 39, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court following allegations that he used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior toward Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor near the former royal’s residence earlier this week.

The incident reportedly occurred Wednesday when a man wearing a ski mask ran toward the former prince while shouting abuse as he walked dogs near his home on the Sandringham Estate, according to The Daily Telegraph newspaper.

The confrontation marks the latest chapter in what has been a tumultuous period for Mountbatten-Windsor, who has been stripped of his royal titles and honors following a series of scandals that have permanently damaged his public reputation.

The 66-year-old former royal currently resides on King Charles III’s private Sandringham Estate, approximately 100 miles north of London in Norfolk. He relocated there after being evicted from Royal Lodge, his longtime residence near Windsor Castle, in the aftermath of revelations about his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Once a prominent working royal with military distinctions and charitable patronages, Mountbatten-Windsor has been effectively banished from public royal life. His fall from grace stems from his controversial friendship with Epstein and subsequent allegations of sexual misconduct.

Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s accusers, alleged that she was forced to have sexual encounters with the then-prince on three occasions, beginning when she was 17 years old. While Mountbatten-Windsor consistently denied these allegations, he ultimately settled the civil case out of court for an undisclosed sum in 2022, acknowledging Giuffre’s suffering as a victim of sex trafficking. Giuffre died by suicide in April 2025 at the age of 41.

Legal scrutiny intensified earlier this year when Mountbatten-Windsor became the first senior British royal in nearly four centuries to be arrested. In February, he was detained for hours by British police on suspicion of misconduct in public office related to his connections with Epstein.

Law enforcement officials had previously indicated they were “assessing” reports that Mountbatten-Windsor sent trade information to Epstein in 2010, during a period when the former prince served as the UK’s special envoy for international trade and investment, a role he held from 2001 to 2011.

These allegations emerged after correspondence between the two men was released by the U.S. Justice Department as part of millions of pages of documents from the American investigation into Epstein’s extensive network of associates and alleged criminal activities.

The mounting legal troubles have cemented Mountbatten-Windsor’s fall within the British establishment. His current residence on the Sandringham Estate represents a significant downgrade from Royal Lodge, the 30-room mansion he previously occupied, and symbolizes his diminished status within the royal family.

The alleged threatening incident highlights the continued public animosity toward the former royal, whose reputation has been irreparably damaged by his associations and the subsequent civil and criminal investigations.

Jenkinson’s case is expected to proceed through the British legal system in the coming months, adding another layer of public scrutiny to the ongoing saga surrounding the former prince’s controversial past and present circumstances.
