German car-ramming suspect’s motive unclear

German authorities have ruled out political or religious motives in a deadly car-ramming incident in Leipzig that claimed two lives on Monday, revealing the suspect had recently been released from psychiatric care.

The 33-year-old German man was arrested Monday afternoon in the same vehicle authorities believe he used to deliberately plow through a busy shopping street in central Leipzig. Two German nationals—a 63-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man—were killed in the incident. Six others sustained injuries, with two victims in serious condition.
