Joni Lamb, a pioneering figure in Christian broadcasting and president of Daystar Television Network, died Thursday following complications from a back injury and ongoing health issues. She was 65.

The network announced her passing in a statement, though specific details about the cause of death were not disclosed. “Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning,” the network’s board of directors said.

Daystar officials reassured followers that operations would continue uninterrupted, noting that Lamb had established a leadership succession plan prior to her death.

Lamb co-founded Daystar with her late husband Marcus Lamb in 1993, launching with a single station in the Dallas area. What began as a modest regional broadcaster evolved into a global Christian media powerhouse over three decades. By 1998, Joni had established herself as a prominent on-air personality with her daily women’s program.

Today, Daystar broadcasts from its headquarters in Bedford, Texas, reaching an estimated 2.3 billion homes across more than 200 countries. The network has served as a platform for many high-profile evangelical ministers, including megachurch pastors Joel Osteen and T.D. Jakes.

“When I learned of his infidelity, I was devastated,” she said at the time, explaining that prayer led her to conclude, “He’s worth fighting for.” The Lambs used this personal crisis as a teaching moment, emphasizing reconciliation and healing within their marriage.
