Minister Defends Rain Rave Festival Amid Social Media Backlash

The Malaysian government has firmly rejected criticism of the upcoming World Labour Day Celebration featuring the Rain Rave Water Music Festival, scheduled to take place in Bukit Bintang from April 30 to May 2, 2026. Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Tiong King Sing issued a strong defense of the event, describing it as a “meticulously planned annual tourism event” that will be conducted under strict supervision.

The festival, designed as part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, aims to stimulate Kuala Lumpur’s economy while supporting small and medium enterprises within the local tourism ecosystem.
