In a pointed response to what he describes as spreading falsehoods, the Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol has issued a stern warning about misinformation targeting federal agents working along the southern border. The statement comes amid escalating tensions over immigration policies and heightened scrutiny of enforcement operations.

Jason Owens, who leads the agency responsible for securing America’s borders, emphasized that border patrol agents continue to fulfill their duties despite facing what he characterized as unfair criticism and distorted narratives about their work and conduct.

“Our agents remain committed to their mission despite the challenges of misinformation in the public sphere,” Owens stated in his remarks. “These dedicated professionals work under difficult conditions to enforce our nation’s immigration laws while treating migrants with dignity and respect.”

The controversy occurs against the backdrop of record migration numbers at the U.S.-Mexico border in recent years.
