Former President Trump Shared Video Showing Biden Bound in Truck, Fact-Check Confirms

A video posted by former President Donald Trump on his Truth Social account in March 2024 did indeed contain an image showing then-President Joe Biden bound in the back of a pickup truck, according to verified archival evidence.

The controversy resurfaced in April 2026 amid discussions about political rhetoric following the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey on charges that he threatened President Trump. Social media users began recirculating claims about Trump’s past posts, including the video from his 2024 presidential campaign.

The video, posted on March 29, 2024, was captioned “3/28/24 | LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK” and featured a convoy of vehicles displaying pro-Trump flags and slogans driving along a highway. Among these was a pickup truck decorated with “Trump 2024” signage and thin blue line flags. In the truck bed was an image depicting President Biden hog-tied.

While some social media users claimed Biden was also shown gagged in the image, fact-checkers have determined this additional detail is inaccurate. The image clearly showed Biden bound, but not gagged.

The verified post has drawn renewed attention as part of broader discussions about the tone of political discourse in America. The thin blue line flags visible in the video have their own complicated history – originally intended to show support for law enforcement but also adopted by some white supremacist groups, according to political analysts.

This incident reflects the increasingly contentious nature of American political rhetoric. Trump’s sharing of the video during his campaign period raises questions about the boundaries of political speech and the responsibility of public figures to avoid content that could be interpreted as encouraging violence against opponents.

The controversy gained new relevance following Comey’s indictment over what prosecutors described as threatening communications directed at Trump. In May 2025, Comey had posted a photograph of seashells arranged to form “86 47” with the caption “Cool shell formation on my beach walk.” Republicans interpreted this as a veiled threat, arguing that “86” (slang for removing something) coupled with “47” (Trump is the 47th president) constituted a threat against Trump’s life.

The Department of Justice ultimately pursued charges against Comey, who surrendered to authorities in April 2026. The case has sparked debate about what constitutes legitimate political criticism versus criminal threats.

Media watchdogs note that both incidents highlight the heightened scrutiny applied to political communications in an era of increased polarization and concerns about political violence. They also underscore how social media posts by public figures can have significant legal and political consequences long after they’re shared.

Independent fact-checkers have confirmed the authenticity of Trump’s March 2024 post through archival evidence, finding no indication that the video was altered or deceptively edited.

The fact that this video resurfaced years later amid ongoing political debates is concerning. While I appreciate the need to fact-check claims, I worry that dwelling on these past controversies does little to address the real issues facing the country. Perhaps it’s time to move the discussion in a more forward-looking, solutions-oriented direction.

  2. Robert Jones on

This is a concerning claim about the former president sharing such an inflammatory video. While I understand political rhetoric can become heated, depicting a sitting president bound against their will seems inappropriate and divisive. I hope we can move the discourse in a more constructive direction focused on the issues.

Hmm, this is a sensitive topic. While the factual details around the video seem clear, I’m curious to hear more context on the motivations and intent behind its posting. Political disagreements are natural, but resorting to such dramatic imagery seems counterproductive. What do you think could be done to cool tensions and bring people together?

This is a troubling development, though I appreciate the fact-checking efforts to verify the details. Regardless of political affiliation, such dramatic imagery seems ill-suited to productive dialogue. Perhaps it’s time to shift the discussion towards finding common ground and solutions, rather than rehashing past controversies.

The details around this video raise some serious questions. While I’m glad the facts were verified, the decision to post such an inflammatory image is concerning. Even if it was meant as political theater, resorting to depictions of a bound president seems ill-advised. We should expect more from our leaders, regardless of party affiliation.
