Trump Did Not Post About “Moving On” from Epstein Case, Fact-Checkers Confirm

A widely shared image claiming to show a Truth Social post by President Donald Trump telling followers to “move on” from the Jeffrey Epstein case and suggesting “14 IS OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS!!” has been conclusively debunked as fabricated.

The fake post began circulating in November 2025, shortly after the U.S. House Oversight Committee released thousands of documents related to Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender who died by suicide in a New York prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

In the fabricated post, Trump allegedly wrote in all-capital letters that “ALL THAT STUFF WITH EPSTEIN WAS A LONG TIME AGO!! EVERYONE JUST NEEDS TO MOVE ON!!” and claimed it was “ALL A DEMOCRATIC HOAX!!” Most disturbingly, the fake post included the statement “BESIDES 14 IS OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS!!”

The age reference appeared to deliberately connect to Justice Department findings from 2019, when prosecutors noted some of Epstein’s alleged victims “were as young as 14 at the time he abused them.”

A White House official responded to inquiries about the image with a clear statement: the post was “obviously fake.”

Multiple fact-checkers performed a thorough examination of Trump’s actual Truth Social account and found no evidence the post ever existed. Trump’s Truth, a website dedicated to archiving the president’s social media posts, also contained no record of such a statement.

Technical inconsistencies in the fake image revealed several red flags. The alleged screenshot lacked the Truth+ subscriber emblem that appears next to Trump’s authentic username on the platform. The date format on the fake post used “11/14/2025” in a serif font, while the actual Truth Social platform displays dates in a “Nov. 14, 2025” format with a sans-serif typeface. Additionally, the username, profile picture, and engagement statistics appeared blurred in the circulated screenshots—unlike the clear presentation on genuine Truth Social posts.

The fabricated image spread rapidly across social media platforms, appearing in multiple Facebook groups, on X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram. Many users shared it without verifying its authenticity, contributing to the spread of misinformation.

While the president did post about Epstein on November 14, his actual statements were markedly different from the fabrication. Trump published three verified posts mentioning Epstein that day, none containing the inflammatory language or age reference found in the fake image. A fourth post regarding former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers allegedly knowing “all about” Epstein was briefly removed and then reposted with corrected spelling.

In one authentic post, Trump wrote: “The Democrats are doing everything in their withering power to push the Epstein hoax again, despite the DOJ releasing 50,000 pages of documents, in order to deflect from all of their bad policies and losses, especially the SHUTDOWN EMBARRASSMENT, where their party is in total disarray, and has no idea what to do.”

This incident occurs amid heightened tensions surrounding the Epstein case, as recently released documents have reignited public interest in the financier’s connections to powerful figures across the political spectrum.

Digital forensic experts note that creating fake social media posts has become increasingly common in today’s political landscape. Various online tools allow users to generate convincing-looking but entirely fabricated content designed to inflame political divisions or damage reputations.

The fake post may have also attempted to capitalize on previously debunked claims that Trump sought to lower the age of consent to 14 years old—allegations that Snopes investigated in August 2025 and found no evidence to support.

As the 2026 midterm election cycle approaches, fact-checkers warn that vigilance regarding viral political content is increasingly important, particularly when posts contain inflammatory or extreme statements.
