A video falsely circulating across social media platforms claims that U.S. President Donald Trump is pleading for peace after Iranian missiles allegedly destroyed the Israeli cities of Haifa and Tel Aviv. Investigations by Tempo have debunked this viral misinformation that has already amassed more than 109,000 likes and 3,500 shares since its appearance on March 26, 2026.

The misleading eight-minute compilation splices together unrelated footage from different events and time periods to create a fictitious narrative about the ongoing Middle East conflict. Tempo’s fact-checking team conducted an exhaustive verification process through reverse image searches and consultation with credible news sources.

Upon closer examination, the opening segment showing Trump at what appears to be a peace declaration actually depicts the inauguration of Markwayne Mullin as Secretary of Homeland Security from March 25, 2026. Another poignant moment featuring Trump with his head bowed was taken from a Latino Summit prayer meeting in Florida dating back to October 22, 2024—completely unrelated to any Iran conflict.

Scenes of destruction purportedly showing devastated Israeli cities were similarly misrepresented. Footage of a damaged apartment building originated from a France24 report covering an Iranian missile strike on Arad in southern Israel on March 22, 2026, which caused approximately 100 injuries but did not “level” major cities as claimed.

Other dramatic visuals in the video were equally misleading. A highway fire scene was identified by Snopes as footage from a market fire in Ajman, United Arab Emirates, from August 2020. An explosion near a transmission tower, claimed to be in Israel, was actually documented by The Washington Post as occurring in Bahrain in February 2026. The naval fleet footage closing the video was traced to U.S. Navy exercises in the Philippine Sea from June 2022.

Contrary to the video’s assertions, the diplomatic situation between the United States, Israel, and Iran remains tense. No peace agreement has been reached, despite recent negotiations. In fact, on April 12, 2026, President Trump threatened via Truth Social to deploy the U.S. Navy to blockade the Strait of Hormuz and intercept vessels paying customs duties to Iran—escalating rather than de-escalating the conflict.

While Trump acknowledged that recent U.S.-Iran talks “went well” with agreement on “most points,” he conceded that the crucial issue of Iran’s nuclear program remains unresolved. This directly contradicts the video’s central claim that the U.S. is seeking peace due to military incapacity.

The ongoing regional conflict that began in late February has indeed seen missile exchanges and military actions, but not the total destruction of major Israeli population centers as portrayed. The video exploits legitimate concerns about the volatile situation in the Middle East while spreading dangerous misinformation during a period of heightened international tension.

Media literacy experts note that such misleading content typically proliferates during crises, when public anxiety and information demand are high. The sophisticated editing techniques used in this video—combining actual footage from different contexts—make such misinformation particularly convincing to casual viewers.

After thorough investigation, Tempo’s fact-checking team has conclusively determined the viral video’s claims about Trump seeking peace following the destruction of major Israeli cities to be categorically false.
