In a week filled with viral hoaxes and misleading content on social media, fact-checkers have debunked another fabricated post falsely attributed to former President Donald Trump.

A doctored screenshot circulating widely across social media platforms claimed that Trump had denounced the Fortnite Friday streaming series as “socialist propaganda” after its nomination for “Best Streamed Series” at the upcoming Streamer Awards 2025. However, an investigation reveals this purported statement never existed.

The manipulated image began spreading shortly after Fortnite Friday, a popular talk-style streaming show hosted by content creator ConnorEatsPants, received its nomination. The fabricated post showed what appeared to be a Truth Social message from Trump criticizing the show and expressing preference for other streamers like Adin Ross and Tectone.

“A TRUE AMERICAN WOULD VOTE FOR ANYTHING BUT FORTNITE FRIDAY!!” read part of the fake statement, which employed inflammatory language designed to provoke reactions from both supporters and critics of the former president.

Fact-checkers examined Trump’s verified Truth Social account and found no record of any such message. The fabricated screenshot appears to be another example of digital manipulation created to generate engagement and confusion online.

Fortnite Friday has gained significant popularity in streaming circles, featuring a talk-show format where ConnorEatsPants engages with various guests, occasionally including political figures. The show’s growing influence likely made it a target for this type of misinformation.

The Streamer Awards, founded in 2022 by content creator QTCinderella, has expanded its recognition categories to 35 for the 2025 ceremony scheduled for December 6 at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. Fortnite Friday’s nomination in the “Best Streamed Series” category puts it in competition with other popular streaming shows including Alveus Tours, Caretakers, In The Booth, and Let Her Cook.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenge of misinformation in the digital age, particularly surrounding political figures with passionate followings. Fabricated statements attributed to prominent individuals can spread rapidly across platforms, often gaining traction before fact-checking efforts can catch up.

Social media companies continue to face scrutiny over their handling of such misinformation, especially as the United States approaches another contentious election cycle. Critics argue that these platforms need more robust systems to flag and remove demonstrably false content, while supporters of less moderation cite concerns about censorship.

Digital literacy experts recommend that users verify information through multiple reliable sources before sharing potentially inflammatory content. Telltale signs of fabricated posts often include unusually inflammatory language, lack of verification from official accounts or reputable news sources, and timing that coincides with trending topics.

The Fortnite Friday streaming community has not officially responded to the hoax, likely preferring to focus on their recent award nomination instead of drawing further attention to the fabricated controversy.

As the Streamer Awards 2025 approaches, the genuine competition between the nominated shows will continue, unburdened by any actual political commentary from the former president.
