On April 28, just days after the false claims circulated, Marcos appeared at the 2026 National Invention Contest and Exhibits Awards ceremony at Malacañang Palace. The following day, he presided over the 1st Joint National and Regional Peace and Order Council Meeting.
Similarly, Romualdez’s camp has categorically denied the allegations. His lawyer and spokesperson, Ade Fajardo, issued a statement declaring, “Any report or insinuation that he has fled is false and irresponsible.” Romualdez was publicly seen on April 27 attending the wake of Dr. Edward Y. Chua, president of Asian Development Foundation College in Tacloban City.
