In a digital age rife with deepfakes, a manipulated video claiming to show former President Barack Obama discussing Donald Trump’s health has been exposed as fraudulent. The AI-generated content, which began circulating online in November 2025, falsely depicts Obama speaking at length about Trump’s alleged “cognitive decline” and “physical deterioration.”
The video appeared on the YouTube channel “Hope In Motion” on November 10, featuring a provocative thumbnail with images of both presidents and the sensationalist quote “He’s dying” attributed to Obama. The thumbnail included manipulated images of Trump with his mouth hanging to one side and another showing him in a hospital bed—both fabricated to suggest serious health issues.
Fact-checkers quickly determined the content to be entirely artificial. The creator used sophisticated deepfake technology to alter Obama’s lip movements and voice from an authentic April 2020 YouTube video titled “President Obama joins a call with My Brother’s Keeper Alliance communities & youth.”
In the fabricated footage, the AI-generated Obama voice can be heard making alarming statements about Trump’s health: “What I’m watching happen to Donald Trump right now, his cognitive decline, his physical deterioration, it’s not just concerning. It’s terrifying.”
The fake Obama continues with increasingly dramatic claims: “His doctors won’t be honest about it. His staff covers for him. The media dances around it. His supporters refuse to see it. But I’m watching a man deteriorate in real time, and nobody’s stopping it.”
Despite the thumbnail’s claim that Obama declared “He’s dying,” this phrase never actually appears in the video itself—highlighting the clickbait tactics employed by the video’s creator.
Comprehensive searches across major search engines including Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google, and Yahoo yielded no credible news sources reporting such remarks from the former president. Had Obama made such explosive statements about a sitting president’s health, it would have generated significant media coverage across the political spectrum.
The fabricated imagery in the thumbnail was equally deceptive. Reverse-image searches found no authentic photos of Trump in a hospital bed as depicted. The other manipulated image of Trump appears to be based on authentic photos from a 9/11 memorial ceremony, which had previously been subject to similar misinformation campaigns.
This incident highlights a growing concern in the political landscape: the increasing sophistication of AI-generated deepfakes and their potential to spread misinformation. As the 2026 midterm election cycle approaches, experts warn that such manipulated media could become more prevalent and harder to detect.
Digital literacy advocates emphasize the importance of verifying information through multiple trusted sources before sharing content online. They recommend examining whether mainstream news outlets have reported on sensational claims and being particularly skeptical of emotional or divisive content.
The Hope In Motion YouTube channel provided no contact information, making it impossible for fact-checkers to reach administrators for comment about the fabricated video. This lack of transparency is often a red flag for content designed to mislead rather than inform.
This is not the first instance of manipulated media involving these political figures. Fact-checkers have previously debunked another fake video claiming to show Trump telling Obama to “sit down, boy”—further evidence of an ongoing pattern of fabricated interactions between the two presidents being circulated online.

This is a concerning example of how advanced deepfake technology has become. I hope initiatives to combat the spread of misinformation online can stay ahead of these types of manipulative tactics.
Me too. Fact-checking and media literacy will be essential going forward to ensure the integrity of political discourse.
The use of deepfake technology to create this false video about Obama and Trump’s health is quite alarming. It just shows how easily misinformation can spread in the digital age if people aren’t critical consumers of online content.
Agree, this is a wake-up call about the importance of media literacy and fact-checking, especially around sensitive political topics.
Wow, that’s really concerning if true. I wonder what the implications would be if Obama had actually made those claims about Trump’s health. It’s scary how advanced deepfake technology has become.
Definitely, deepfakes are a real threat to truth and credibility these days. Good that this one was quickly debunked.
While I’m curious about the claims made in the video, I’m glad to see it was debunked as a deepfake. It’s important we don’t get carried away by sensationalized content without verifying the facts first.
Totally, it’s crucial to maintain a skeptical eye and cross-reference information from reliable sources before jumping to conclusions.
I’m glad the fact-checkers were able to determine this video was fake. With all the disinformation out there, it’s important to be vigilant about verifying the source and authenticity of any content, especially anything involving public figures.
Absolutely. We have to be really careful about falling for manipulated media, no matter how convincing it may seem.
