In a significant development, the U.S. House Oversight Committee has released emails showing convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein claiming that former President Donald Trump “knew about the girls” in correspondence from January 2019.
The emails were part of over 20,000 pages of documents obtained through a subpoena of Epstein’s estate issued earlier this year. Democratic members of the committee made public three emails on November 12, including the explosive message Epstein sent to author Michael Wolff.
In the partially redacted email, Epstein wrote: “[REDACTED VICTIM] mara lago. [REDACTED]. Trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever. Of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop –”
The full context of the email remains unclear, though it appears to reference Trump’s reported request for Epstein to leave his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. It also seems to allude to allegations that Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell recruited young women from the property.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt identified the redacted victim as Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein accuser who died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41. In a statement to media outlets, Leavitt accused Democrats of “selectively” leaking emails to create “a fake narrative to smear President Trump.”
“The ‘unnamed victim’ referenced in these emails is the late Virginia Giuffre, who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and ‘couldn’t have been friendlier’ to her in their limited interactions,” Leavitt wrote.
According to previous reporting by The Associated Press, Giuffre described meeting Trump once at Mar-a-Lago, where her father worked, but did not accuse him of wrongdoing. In her posthumously published memoir, she stated that Trump “couldn’t have been friendlier” and had offered to help her find babysitting work.
Giuffre alleged she first met Epstein as a teenager while working at the Mar-a-Lago spa. She claimed Maxwell hired her as a “masseuse” for Epstein, who then allegedly coerced her into performing sex acts during massages. Maxwell has denied these allegations.
Author Michael Wolff, who received the controversial email and has written several books about Trump’s presidency, confirmed the committee had released correspondence between himself and Epstein. In a video shared on his Instagram account, Wolff stated, “This morning, the House Oversight Committee released emails directly linking Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein. In fact, some of those emails are between Epstein and me, with Epstein discussing his relationship with Donald Trump.”
Wolff added, “I have been trying to talk about this story for a very long time now.”
The committee’s document release also contained an email exchange between Epstein and Maxwell. In one message, Epstein wrote: “i want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump.. virignia spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned. police chief. etc. im 75 % there.” Maxwell replied, “I have been thinking about that.”
Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, had been notorious for his connections to wealthy and powerful figures, including Trump. The former president has not been accused of any criminal wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.
This release follows a previous document dump by the committee that included a 2003 album of 50th-birthday messages for Epstein, which contained a drawing appearing to show Epstein giving candy to children and a purported birthday note from Trump.
The ongoing investigation by the House Oversight Committee continues to shed light on Epstein’s extensive network of relationships with prominent individuals. These revelations come at a politically sensitive time, with critics questioning the timing of the release and Trump’s supporters dismissing the emails as politically motivated attacks.
