JPMorgan Executive Director Faces Sexual Harassment Claims Amid Viral Satirical Post
A sexual harassment lawsuit against Lorna Hajdini, Executive Director for Leveraged Finance at JPMorgan, has gained additional attention after a viral social media post falsely claimed responsibility for her promotion.
According to a Daily Mail report, Hajdini faces allegations from a junior staffer at the investment banking giant. The case garnered widespread notice when a social media user named Peter Girnus published a lengthy statement on X claiming to have been Hajdini’s mentor and the person who elevated her to her executive position.
“I promoted Lorna Hajdini to Executive Director at JPMorgan because she understood something most bankers never learn. Ownership,” Girnus wrote in the post that has since accumulated over a million views. The statement continued with detailed descriptions of Wall Street culture and leadership philosophy that Girnus claimed to have instilled in Hajdini.
The post elaborated on what Girnus described as his “playbook” for success in investment banking, suggesting that Hajdini was simply following established patterns of behavior within the industry. “When the complaint came across my desk, I read it twice. Not because it was disturbing. Because it was familiar,” he wrote, seemingly defending the behaviors described in the harassment complaint.
However, fact-checking reveals the post to be entirely satirical. Girnus has never worked at JPMorgan nor has he ever been in a position to promote Hajdini. According to his LinkedIn profile, Girnus is actually a senior threat researcher at Zero Day Initiative based in Austin, Texas, with a background in cybersecurity. His employment history includes positions at Sprint, Best Buy, HEB, and Trend Micro – none of which overlap with JPMorgan or the financial sector.
Meanwhile, Hajdini’s now-deleted LinkedIn profile indicated she was based in New York and had advanced through positions at JPMorgan after starting as an intern. Given their divergent career paths and geographic locations, it would have been impossible for Girnus to have served as Hajdini’s mentor.
Many social media users quickly identified the satirical nature of the post. “Peter Girnus is not at JP Morgan but a cybersecurity researcher at Trend Micro. It’s satirical fiction,” wrote one user. Another added, “His presence on social media—where he often writes from the perspective of an ‘executive’ at various firms—is largely satirical.”
Despite the fictional nature of Girnus’s post, it sparked substantial discussion about workplace culture in financial institutions. Many commenters took the opportunity to critique the toxic leadership styles often found in banking environments, with one user noting: “That’s not ‘mentorship,’ it’s control dressed up as culture. When ‘ownership’ starts sounding like ‘I own you,’ you’ve already crossed the line.”
The allegations against Hajdini come at a time when Wall Street continues to face scrutiny over workplace conduct and power dynamics, particularly involving senior executives. The financial sector has historically struggled with issues related to harassment and workplace culture, with numerous high-profile cases emerging in recent years.
JPMorgan has responded to the actual harassment allegations, with a spokesperson telling the Daily Mail that internal investigations had determined the complaint against both the company and Hajdini “had no merit.” The banking giant, the largest in the United States by assets, has not provided further details about the investigation or the specific allegations involved.
The case highlights how quickly misinformation can spread on social media, even when concerning serious legal matters, and demonstrates the ongoing challenges financial institutions face in addressing workplace conduct issues and their public perception.
