Flood of Fake ‘3 A.M. Emergency Monologues’ Exposed as Foreign Misinformation Campaign

A sophisticated network of foreign-operated websites and Facebook pages has been flooding social media with fabricated stories about American politicians and celebrities allegedly making dramatic “3 A.M. emergency monologues” where they claim to be threatened over secrets they plan to expose.

The identical false narratives, which appear to originate primarily from Vietnam, feature a rotating cast of prominent figures including Senator John Kennedy, Melania Trump, Representative Zohran Mamdani, and numerous others allegedly being threatened by former presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden or current president Donald Trump.

One version circulated on December 14 via a Facebook page called “Common Wit” claimed: “JOHN KENNEDY JUST WENT LIVE WITH A 3 A.M. EMERGENCY MONOLOGUE: ‘OBAMA SENT ME A MESSAGE TONIGHT — IF I DON’T DROP WHAT I KNOW, I’M FINISHED’.” Investigation into the page’s transparency information revealed it was operated from Vietnam.

The posts consistently follow the same formula: a public figure supposedly broadcasts a late-night monologue claiming they’ve received threats from a political leader attempting to silence them about unspecified “secrets.” The posts then link to websites with identical content, many sharing the same Vietnamese ownership.

A review of the website linked from the Kennedy post (foxsocial.feji.io) confirmed its Terms of Service identify it as Vietnam-based, consistent with hundreds of similar fake news operations identified in previous investigations.

Exhaustive searches through Google News and mainstream media archives found no credible reporting of any such broadcasts taking place. No legitimate news organizations have covered these alleged dramatic confrontations, which would certainly generate substantial headlines if real.

The scope of this misinformation campaign is remarkable. A simple Facebook search for the phrase “went live with a 3 a.m. emergency monologue” returns dozens of nearly identical posts featuring different public figures, including:

  • Secretary of State Marco Rubio supposedly threatened by Obama
  • Actor Jim Carrey threatened by Obama
  • ABC News anchor David Muir threatened by Trump
  • Former Judge Jeanine Pirro threatened by Obama
  • Stephen Miller, podcaster Candace Owens, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Joy Behar, Jim Jordan, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Whoopi Goldberg, Jimmy Kimmel, Rachel Maddow and many more

Each post follows the identical pattern, using similar AI-generated images showing the subject in a broadcast studio alongside photos of the alleged threatening figure. The coordinated nature of these posts strongly suggests an organized disinformation operation rather than isolated false claims.

This pattern matches tactics identified in previous investigations into foreign influence operations targeting American audiences with politically divisive content. Such campaigns often employ sensational, emotionally charged narratives designed to provoke outrage and deepen political divisions.

Media literacy experts warn that such fabricated “breaking news” stories exploit social media algorithms that reward engagement, regardless of accuracy. The identical format across dozens of versions suggests automated content generation designed to maximize distribution through multiple channels simultaneously.

Users encountering such claims are advised to verify information through established news sources before sharing. Legitimate late-night emergency broadcasts by public officials would be covered extensively by mainstream media outlets, not exclusively by obscure websites and social media pages operated from overseas.

The proliferation of these fabricated “3 A.M. monologue” stories highlights ongoing challenges in combating coordinated inauthentic behavior on social platforms during a contentious election year.
