Ukrainian Defense Forces Refute Russian Claims of Kotlyne Capture

The Ukrainian Operational Command “East” has firmly denied Russian claims about the alleged capture of Kotlyne, releasing video evidence on December 31 that shows Ukrainian forces maintaining control of the settlement.

According to military officials, Russian forces have been spreading disinformation about territorial gains in the eastern Ukrainian village, which falls under the responsibility of Ukraine’s 152nd Jaeger Brigade.

“Our soldiers have been steadfastly holding these lines for almost a year, restraining the enemy, repelling its attempts to advance, and destroying enemy infantry and equipment,” the statement from Operational Command “East” declared.

The military command characterized the Russian claims as “information manipulation” timed to coincide with the holiday season, calling it a propaganda gift “under the Christmas tree.” To counter these assertions, Ukrainian forces released video footage showing their soldiers at positions within Kotlyne, with Ukrainian flags clearly visible.

The 152nd Jaeger Brigade, a specialized light infantry unit trained for operations in difficult terrain, has been instrumental in defending this sector of the front line. Jaegers, historically known as elite light infantry, are particularly effective in the forested and complex terrain of eastern Ukraine.
