Iranian Officials Share AI Video Depicting Jesus Attacking Trump, Pentagon Officials Respond

In a remarkable exchange during Tuesday’s Pentagon press briefing, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was confronted with questions about a disturbing artificial intelligence-generated propaganda video shared by Iranian officials depicting Jesus Christ violently attacking former President Donald Trump.

The AI-generated content, which has circulated on Iranian embassy social media accounts, portrays a figure meant to represent Jesus descending upon Trump, striking him in the mouth causing blood to spurt, and sending the former president falling into what appears to be hellfire. The video includes a narrator intoning “Your reckoning has come,” while the Jesus character exclaims “WHAT IS THIS?!” as Trump screams “NOOOO!” during the violent encounter.

The bizarre propaganda piece became a topic of discussion during a joint press conference held by Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, who were briefing reporters on ongoing tensions with Iran.

Daily Wire correspondent Mary Margaret Olohan directly questioned Hegseth about the video, describing it as “an AI video of Jesus Christ kind of bloodily killing President Donald Trump” and “casting Trump into hell,” asking for the Pentagon’s official response.

Hegseth condemned the video unequivocally. “Of course, that’s disgusting and detached from reality,” he stated. “Iran says a lot of things in the propaganda space based on complete lies and their actions have been lies.”

The Defense Secretary went on to highlight what he characterized as Iran’s pattern of deception in its communications. “They say, ‘We don’t target,’ [but] we see missiles going into civilian facilities and hotels in the Gulf states. They say, ‘We only target military targets’ as you watch drones and missiles go [elsewhere],” Hegseth remarked.

He concluded that Iranian officials “are gonna misrepresent, lie, spin in a multitude of ways, which we are quite used to,” before suggesting that “ultimately, they need to come to the table and make a deal.”

The press conference had begun with Hegseth’s opening remarks that reportedly included biblical references and comparisons between Trump and Jesus, adding another layer of complexity to the exchange that followed.

This incident represents the latest chapter in escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, where propaganda and information warfare increasingly complement conventional military posturing. The use of AI-generated content for propaganda purposes demonstrates how emerging technologies are being weaponized in geopolitical conflicts to provoke emotional responses and potentially influence public perception.

Digital misinformation experts have previously warned about the dangers of AI-generated content in international relations, particularly when deployed by state actors. Such content can quickly spread across social media platforms, potentially inflaming tensions or creating confusion among audiences unable to distinguish between authentic and fabricated media.

The Iranian video emerges against a backdrop of deteriorating U.S.-Iran relations and ongoing regional conflicts in the Middle East, where Iranian-backed proxies have been engaged in various confrontations with U.S. allies.

Hegseth also briefly addressed a question about an unnamed individual, presumably referencing an Iranian figure, stating they were believed to be “alive, wounded, and disfigured,” though he provided no further details on this matter.

The Pentagon’s decision to address the inflammatory video during an official briefing underscores the significance U.S. defense officials place on countering Iranian propaganda efforts, even as they maintain focus on more traditional security concerns in the region.
