In a sweeping directive to his cabinet, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has instructed his ministers to aggressively counter what he describes as “malicious propaganda” being spread by the opposition YSR Congress Party on several key issues affecting the state.

During Thursday’s cabinet meeting in Amaravati, Naidu expressed concern that opposition claims regarding the capital city’s construction costs are resonating with the public. The YSRCP has been alleging that Amaravati’s development expenses are “abnormally high compared to those anywhere in India or abroad,” a narrative that appears to be gaining traction.

Naidu emphasized the need for his ministers to present factual data about per-square-foot construction costs, making direct comparisons with similar projects elsewhere. He pointed out that the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) possesses comprehensive cost data that should be utilized to educate citizens about the actual figures.

“Transparency is key to helping people distinguish between facts and misinformation,” Naidu stated, suggesting that with proper information, citizens would be able to counter opposition narratives on their own. He further directed officials to ensure ministers receive timely data from their respective departments to address public concerns effectively.

The cabinet also addressed controversy surrounding a recent ministerial delegation to Singapore, which has faced criticism from opposition quarters. Defending the trip, Naidu characterized it as a valuable training opportunity in governance and wealth creation, noting that Singapore had extended a “unique opportunity” specifically to Andhra Pradesh. He instructed his ministers to clearly articulate the visit’s purpose and outcomes to the public.

The recent fuel shortage in the state was another topic of discussion. While acknowledging a temporary disruption in petrol and diesel supplies, Naidu highlighted his government’s swift response, claiming they restored normalcy within 48 hours. Ministers were directed to explain the stabilization measures taken and refute opposition allegations regarding the government’s handling of the situation.

Turning to economic development, the Chief Minister highlighted strategic initiatives including Google’s data center project in Visakhapatnam and plans for an aerospace and defense cluster in Puttaparthi. These projects, according to Naidu, represent significant investment opportunities and employment potential for the state—achievements he wants prominently communicated to the public.

Throughout the meeting, Naidu stressed the importance of effective public communication. He advised ministers to remain well-informed about their departments, maintain strong connections with their administrative teams, and proactively address public concerns. Timely communication backed by factual data, he emphasized, is essential for maintaining public trust.

Looking toward future governance challenges, Naidu also highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence and information technology. He suggested that both officials and policymakers need to develop skills in these emerging areas to remain effective.

The Chief Minister’s directives come at a time when the ruling Telugu Desam Party and the opposition YSRCP continue their intense political rivalry, with public narratives about development initiatives, government spending, and administrative efficiency forming key battlegrounds for public opinion in the state.

Naidu concluded by reiterating that ministers must take personal responsibility for countering misinformation, ensuring citizens receive accurate information about government initiatives and their implementation across Andhra Pradesh.
