CNN commentator Scott Jennings has sparked internal fury at the network after sharing unverified claims about the Trump administration’s Iran strikes that directly contradicted CNN’s own reporting, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation.

On February 28, as U.S. strikes against Iran began, Jennings posted to his nearly one million X followers: “Senior Trump administration officials telling me that credible intelligence indicated Iran planned preemptive missile strikes against US military targets in the region, and against civilian targets as well. Failure to act would’ve resulted in mass US casualties.”

The post, which was shared more than 13,000 times, stood in stark contrast to CNN’s own bombshell reporting published that same day. The network’s journalists had reported that Trump’s claim about Iran building missiles that “could soon reach the American homeland” lacked backing from U.S. intelligence sources. Furthermore, Pentagon officials had reportedly informed congressional staff that Iran had no plans to launch unprovoked attacks on American forces or bases in the Middle East.
