Wisconsin Teen Expected to Enter Plea Deal in Parents’ Murder Case Linked to Alleged Trump Assassination Plot
A Wisconsin teenager accused of murdering his parents to finance an alleged plot to assassinate former President Donald Trump is set to enter a plea deal Thursday that will resolve the serious charges against him.
Nikita Casap, 18, is scheduled to appear in Waukesha County Circuit Court where he faces multiple charges including two counts of homicide, two counts of hiding a corpse, and theft. The hearing comes as Casap was previously scheduled to stand trial beginning March 2.
The terms of the plea agreement have not been disclosed in online court records. When contacted, Harm Venhuizen, spokesperson for the state public defender’s office representing Casap, cited Wisconsin Supreme Court ethics rules that prevent commenting on active cases. The Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office did not respond to inquiries about the deal’s specifics.
According to the criminal complaint, investigators believe Casap shot his mother, Tatiana Casap, and his stepfather, Donald Mayer, at their home in the village of Waukesha on or around February 11. In a disturbing detail from the investigation, authorities reported that Casap continued living in the home with the decomposing bodies for several weeks.
The case took a cross-country turn when Casap eventually fled in his stepfather’s SUV, taking approximately $14,000 in cash, jewelry, passports, his stepfather’s firearm, and the family dog. His flight ended on February 28 when law enforcement apprehended him during a traffic stop in Kansas.
The case has drawn national attention due to federal authorities’ assertions that Casap’s actions were part of a broader and more sinister plot. Federal investigators claim that Casap methodically planned his parents’ murders to fund a scheme involving the purchase of a drone and explosives. These materials were allegedly intended for use in an assassination attempt against former President Trump.
“The killing of his parents appeared to be an effort to obtain the financial means and autonomy necessary to carrying out his plan,” stated a federal search warrant connected to the case.
Adding an international dimension to the case, authorities discovered messages on Casap’s cellphone from January 2025 in which he inquired about how long he would need to hide before being moved to Ukraine. According to the complaint, some messages were exchanged with an unidentified individual who responded in Russian, though the document does not reveal the content of those responses.
In one particularly telling message, Casap allegedly asked: “So while in Ukraine, I’ll be able to live a normal life? Even if it’s found out I did it?”
Federal documents indicate that Casap had written what they described as a “manifest” calling for Trump’s assassination and had been in communication with others about his alleged plan to kill the former president and overthrow the U.S. government. These communications reportedly included discussions with Russian speakers, though full details of these exchanges have not been made public.
The case highlights concerns about politically motivated violence and comes amid heightened security for political figures following two apparent assassination attempts against Trump during his 2024 presidential campaign.
The plea hearing marks a significant development in a case that combines elements of domestic violence, alleged political extremism, and international connections. If the plea agreement is accepted by the court, it will spare both families and the community the emotional toll of a lengthy trial while potentially providing some clarity on the full scope of Casap’s alleged crimes.
