Trump Urges House Republicans to Release Epstein Documents, Claims Democrats Using Case as Distraction

President Trump has called on House Republicans to vote for the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, insisting he has “nothing to hide” while characterizing the controversy as a political maneuver by Democrats.

In a Truth Social post Sunday, Trump described the situation as a “Democrat hoax perpetrated by radical left lunatics” designed to divert attention from Republican accomplishments.

“As I said on Friday night aboard Air Force One to the Fake News Media, House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide,” Trump wrote. He urged his party to move past what he considers a distraction and refocus on policy priorities.

The former president pointed to the Department of Justice’s previous release of thousands of Epstein-related documents, noting that the agency is now investigating potential connections between the disgraced financier and several prominent Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers.

“The House Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally entitled to, I DON’T CARE!” Trump declared in his social media post.

Trump emphasized that Republicans should redirect their attention to substantive policy matters instead of becoming entangled in what he termed the Epstein “TRAP.” He highlighted what he considers his administration’s achievements, including economic growth, tax cuts, military rebuilding, and border security initiatives.

“All I do care about is that Republicans get BACK ON POINT,” Trump stated, listing priorities such as affordability, inflation reduction, and securing investment in America.

The former president also suggested that if Democrats possessed damaging information related to Epstein, it would have emerged before the recent election. “Nobody cared about Jeffrey Epstein when he was alive and, if the Democrats had anything, they would have released it before our Landslide Election Victory,” he wrote.

The controversy has intensified following Attorney General Pam Bondi’s announcement on Friday that the Department of Justice would investigate several prominent Democrats after new emails revealed ties to Epstein. Bondi stated that Jay Clayton, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, would lead the investigation.

“Clayton is one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country,” Bondi wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “As with all matters, the Department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people.”

Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy financier, was arrested in 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking minors. He died in his jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial, with his death ruled a suicide. Since then, his case has continued to generate significant public interest and political controversy, particularly regarding his connections to prominent figures across the political spectrum.

The White House, Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman, and Larry Summers have not yet responded to requests for comment on the investigation or Trump’s statements.

As this political battle unfolds, it highlights the continuing sensitivity surrounding the Epstein case and how it remains a flashpoint in American politics years after the financier’s death. Whether the release of additional documents will bring clarity or merely fuel further partisan disputes remains to be seen.
