President Trump announced on Sunday that he is willing to release the results of an MRI scan he underwent in October at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The president made the statement while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One as he returned to Washington after spending Thanksgiving weekend at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

“If they want to release it, it’s OK with me to release it,” Trump said. “It’s perfect.”

When asked about which part of his body was examined during the scan, Trump responded, “I have no idea. What part of the body? It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and I aced it. I got a perfect mark.”

The MRI scan was first documented in a medical memo released by the White House on October 10. According to White House physician Sean Barbabella, the imaging was conducted as part of a scheduled follow-up evaluation and routine health maintenance plan for the president. The memo indicated that Trump underwent laboratory testing and preventive health assessments during the same visit.

“Comprehensive laboratory studies performed in conjunction with the visit were exceptional, including stable metabolic, hematologic, and cardiac parameters,” Dr. Barbabella wrote in the memo.

The president’s medical examinations have drawn increased attention from the press in recent weeks. In early November, a reporter questioned White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt about releasing the MRI results, noting that such imaging is not typically part of routine medical examinations and is usually ordered for specific diagnostic purposes. Leavitt responded at the time that she would follow up on the request.

Medical transparency has been a recurring topic throughout Trump’s presidency, with health updates carefully managed by the White House communications team. Presidential health disclosures have historical precedent, with varying degrees of detail provided by different administrations. The White House typically balances patient privacy considerations with the public interest in a president’s medical condition.

Sunday’s comments mark the first time Trump has personally addressed the October MRI scan and indicated willingness to share the results publicly. The president’s statement comes amid broader discussions about the health and fitness of elected officials, particularly following recent high-profile health concerns among other political figures.

Health experts note that MRIs are advanced diagnostic tools used to examine soft tissues, joints, or internal organs, and are typically ordered when doctors need detailed images that other scans cannot provide. Without knowing which body part was examined, medical professionals can only speculate about the purpose of the president’s scan.

The White House has emphasized that the president’s overall health remains excellent. Trump has frequently touted his physical and mental fitness throughout his presidency, including references to cognitive assessments he has taken.

Trump’s medical care is provided by the White House Medical Unit and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, which serves as the primary medical facility for the president and other high-ranking government officials. The center provides comprehensive care and specialized treatments in a secure environment designed to accommodate the unique security and privacy needs of the president.

The White House has not yet announced when or if the MRI results will be formally released following the president’s statement of willingness to share them.
