When the ship failed to comply, U.S. forces disabled its propulsion system by firing several rounds into the engine room using the destroyer’s 5-inch MK 45 Gun. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit subsequently boarded the vessel, which remains in U.S. custody.
