The Trump administration has released a series of previously classified files and videos documenting Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), marking the first phase of a broader transparency initiative regarding government knowledge of possible extraterrestrial activity.
The release comes through President Trump’s Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE) program, which aims to declassify government information about unexplained aerial sightings and make it accessible to the public without security clearance requirements.
“While past administrations sought to discredit or dissuade the American people, President Trump is focused on providing maximum transparency to the public, who can ultimately make up their own minds about the information contained in these files,” the White House said in a statement.
Among the most notable items in this initial disclosure are photographs from NASA’s Apollo missions. One image from the Apollo 17 mission shows three unidentified dots visible in the lunar sky. A corresponding transcript of communications between Apollo operators details their observations of these unusual phenomena.
“Now we’ve got a few very bright particles or fragments or something that go drifting by as we maneuver,” one operator reported, with another adding, “It looks like the Fourth of July out of Ron’s window.” The conversation continued with descriptions of “jagged, angular fragments that are tumbling.”
Additional files include FBI photographs from New Year’s Eve 1999 showing what appear to be UAPs in proximity to U.S. aircraft. These images represent part of what officials describe as a trove of government records that have long been shielded from public view.
The release follows a February incident when former President Barack Obama stated during a podcast appearance that aliens were real, which Trump characterized as a breach of classified information. Shortly afterward, Trump announced on Truth Social his intention to declassify files related to extraterrestrial phenomena, UAPs, and UFOs.
“Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files,” Trump wrote at the time.
Several key administration officials have emphasized the significance of this transparency initiative. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated that these files “hidden behind classifications, have long fueled justified speculation,” adding that “it’s time the American people see it for themselves.”
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard described the effort as “careful, comprehensive, and unprecedented,” noting that her office is “actively coordinating the Intelligence Community’s declassification efforts with the Department of War.”
FBI Director Kash Patel characterized the release as “landmark,” highlighting that “for the first time in history, the American people have unfettered access to declassified government files on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomenon – a level of transparency that no prior administration has delivered.”
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman added that the space agency will “remain candid about what we know to be true, what we have yet to understand, and all that remains to be discovered.”
The declassification initiative represents a significant shift in government policy regarding UAPs, a subject that has long been shrouded in secrecy and skepticism. By making these files publicly accessible, the administration is acknowledging widespread public interest in unexplained aerial phenomena while allowing citizens to evaluate the evidence directly.
The White House indicated that this initial release is just the beginning of a series of disclosures, with additional batches of UAP files scheduled to be made available at WAR.GOV/UFO. As more information becomes available, it may provide new insights into decades of reported sightings and encounters that have previously remained within classified government channels.

While I’m generally supportive of transparency, I remain somewhat skeptical about the reliability and interpretation of the declassified UAP data. Rigorous scientific analysis will be crucial to drawing any meaningful conclusions.
As an investor, I’m curious to see how this disclosure might impact companies involved in aerospace, defense, and space exploration. Could it lead to new business opportunities or increased government funding in related areas?
Providing transparency around UAP and potential extraterrestrial activity is a positive move. However, I hope the administration is also focusing on more pressing issues facing the country, like the pandemic and economic recovery.
That’s a fair point. While disclosure on UAP is noteworthy, the government should ensure this doesn’t distract from addressing critical domestic priorities.
The Apollo 17 photo showing unidentified objects in the lunar sky is certainly intriguing. I look forward to analyzing the full set of declassified files to better understand what the government knows about these UAP sightings.
Yes, that’s a compelling piece of evidence. The transcripts of the astronauts’ communications could also shed more light on their observations.
As a curious citizen, I’m eager to dive into these declassified files. Even if the evidence is inconclusive, the mere fact that the government is acknowledging and releasing this information is significant. It could lead to a new era of openness and scientific inquiry.
Interesting declassification by the Trump administration. I wonder what insights these files will provide about UAP and potential extraterrestrial activity. It’s good to see more transparency around this topic.
I agree, increased public access to government information on UAP is a step in the right direction. Let’s see what the data reveals about these unidentified phenomena.
This release of information is an important step, but I hope the administration will also commit to ongoing, systematic disclosure of government data on UAP and potential extraterrestrial phenomena. Transparency should be a continuous process, not a one-time event.
