Chicago Begins Final Farewell to Civil Rights Icon Jesse Jackson

Residents have left floral tributes outside his Tudor-style family home on the South Side for days following the announcement of his death. The city’s public transit system has displayed his portrait alongside his famous affirmation, “I am Somebody!” – a phrase that became emblematic of his lifelong work empowering marginalized communities.
