Billionaire Les Wexner to Testify in House Oversight Probe of Jeffrey Epstein Connections
An 88-year-old billionaire businessman and former Victoria’s Secret chief is set to face questioning from the House Oversight Committee Wednesday morning as part of its ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s network of influential associates.
Les Wexner, founder of L Brands (formerly The Limited), which included Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, and Pink, was recently named as a co-conspirator of Epstein in a previously undisclosed FBI document from 2019. This places him at the center of congressional scrutiny regarding how Epstein built his wealth and influence before his 2019 suicide in a Manhattan jail.
While Epstein’s crimes as an accused sex trafficker have received extensive media coverage, particularly after Congress forced the Department of Justice to release millions of pages of documents, less is known about the figures who operated within his orbit and helped facilitate his vast international connections.
Wexner has never been criminally charged in connection with Epstein. A spokesperson for the retail mogul told Fox News Digital that an “Assistant U.S. Attorney told Mr. Wexner’s legal counsel in 2019 that Mr. Wexner was neither a co-conspirator nor target in any respect.”
However, newly released DOJ documents suggest Wexner played a significant role in Epstein’s rise to wealth and power. A 2013 file titled “Jeffrey Epstein Source of Wealth” indicated that Wexner “became a well-known client” of Epstein’s financial management firm in 1987. The document noted that “since all but one of his financial clients are anonymous, it has been speculated that much of Epstein’s lavish lifestyle was once financed by Wexner.”
Central to the investigation is Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse, reportedly the largest private residence in New York City, which Wexner sold to Epstein. While a 2019 FBI witness statement claimed Wexner “sold his mansion in New York to Epstein for $20,” documentation obtained by Fox News Digital shows the actual transaction was for $20 million, with half paid by cashier’s check and half covered by a promissory note.
This property became infamous after FBI agents raided it in July 2019, discovering vast troves of evidence, including photos of partially or fully nude females, some appearing to be minors. According to the DOJ’s indictment, the mansion was one of the locations where Epstein “enticed and recruited dozens of minor girls… to engage in sex acts with him.”
The relationship between the two men extended beyond real estate. In 1991, Wexner signed a document giving Epstein power of attorney, granting him authority to sign checks, borrow money, and buy or sell real estate on Wexner’s behalf. This extraordinary level of financial control has raised questions about the nature of their relationship.
In a letter to his nonprofit foundation in August 2019, Wexner claimed the relationship ended in early fall 2007 after he discovered Epstein had “misappropriated vast sums of money” from him and his family. “With his credibility and our trust in him destroyed, we immediately severed ties with him,” Wexner wrote, adding that they recovered some funds.
More serious allegations have emerged from FBI witness statements. Robert Morosky, a former executive at Wexner’s company, reportedly told investigators he had information about “‘Limited’ brand aircraft used in the 1990s to transport young girls from Mexico to the U.S.” Wexner’s spokesperson has denied this claim, stating Morosky was terminated in 1987 and would have no knowledge of company planes in the 1990s.
Another redacted witness statement from 2020 claimed to have “often” seen Epstein and Wexner together, and alleged that “Wexner would have models who could not have been over 18 years old do private viewings for him and Epstein” wearing swimsuits and lingerie. A source familiar with company procedures disputed this account, stating model fittings always involved teams of 15-20 professionals and Epstein was never present.
The billionaire’s testimony before the House Oversight Committee marks a significant escalation in congressional efforts to uncover the full extent of Epstein’s network and operations. The hearing continues a series of high-profile depositions, including that of Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend and confidante, who recently appeared before the committee.
As the investigation progresses, lawmakers aim to shed light on how Epstein maintained his sphere of influence and the role that powerful figures like Wexner may have played in facilitating his activities.
