Musk Responds to Perceived Threat Amid Minnesota Fraud Controversy
Billionaire Elon Musk issued a defiant response after a Somali TikToker appeared to make threatening comments about him during a livestream. The since-deleted account under the name “Dowza.z” stated in English, “I wouldn’t worry too much about him, he about to die,” while discussing Musk’s recent criticisms of alleged fraud schemes involving Somali-run businesses in Minnesota.
Musk’s response on X was succinct but forceful: “Then it is war.” The exchange quickly gained traction among conservative voices online, with many interpreting the TikToker’s statement as a direct threat to Musk’s safety.
The controversy comes amid intensifying federal investigations into widespread fraud schemes in Minnesota. The Department of Homeland Security announced Tuesday it has launched a major operation targeting individuals involved in these schemes, which allegedly bilked hundreds of millions of dollars from government programs.
At the center of these investigations is the “Feeding Our Future” case, a $250 million fraud scheme that allegedly targeted a USDA-funded children’s nutrition program during the COVID-19 pandemic. At least 77 individuals have been charged in connection with this scheme, which exploited relaxed program requirements implemented during the pandemic.
A separate fraud scheme involves Minnesota’s Housing Stability Services Program, which provided Medicaid coverage for housing stabilization services intended to help vulnerable populations, including those with disabilities and mental illnesses.
Many of those charged in these cases are members of Minnesota’s Somali community, a fact that has drawn particular attention from the Trump administration. In November, President Trump announced the termination of Temporary Protected Status for Somali migrants in Minnesota, removing protection against deportation for many in the community.
Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee responded to the TikToker’s comments by calling for immediate deportation, writing on X, “Deport her immediately. She shouldn’t be here.”
Musk, who serves as head of the Department of Government Efficiency in the Trump administration, has been particularly vocal about the Minnesota fraud cases. On Saturday, he claimed on X that the Minnesota scheme is “one of many” and that his team has “found hundreds of fraud schemes” across government programs.
“There was massive fraud in every government program, especially Federal funds sent as block grants to the states,” Musk wrote to his more than 230 million followers.
The situation highlights the increasingly charged political climate surrounding immigration issues and government spending oversight. The Department of Homeland Security’s operation represents one of the most aggressive federal responses to allegations of organized benefit fraud in recent years.
Conservative commentator Eric Daugherty characterized the situation bluntly: “When fraud is exposed – it’s always the fraudsters who yell and complain the loudest. Their THEFT will come to an end.”
As federal authorities continue their investigations, tensions remain high between those supporting the fraud crackdown and members of affected immigrant communities who feel unfairly targeted. The controversy surrounding Musk’s exchange with the TikToker underscores how social media can quickly amplify these tensions, potentially transforming policy disagreements into personal conflicts.
The case also demonstrates Musk’s continued prominence in political discourse, where his statements—particularly on his own platform X—can drive national conversations about government policy, immigration, and public spending.

The alleged fraud schemes in Minnesota are certainly concerning, and I can understand Musk’s frustration. However, responding with threats of war is unlikely to help resolve the situation in a constructive way.
This appears to be another example of the complex interplay between social media, politics, and perceived security threats. It will be interesting to see if the authorities investigate the TikToker’s statement further or if it was just an ill-advised attempt at provocation.
Interesting to see the involvement of Somali social media personalities in this story. It highlights the growing influence of online communities in shaping political narratives, for better or worse.
While I’m no fan of Musk, I have to agree that any perceived threats to his safety should be taken seriously. The authorities need to investigate this thoroughly to ensure public safety.
While I don’t condone any threats against public figures, it’s troubling to see the level of polarization and hostility in today’s political climate. Both sides need to dial down the rhetoric and focus on facts and solutions, not confrontation.
Musk seems to be taking these perceived threats seriously. Given the high-profile nature of the Minnesota fraud investigations, it’s understandable he would respond forcefully to any hints of violence. Curious to see how this all plays out.

As someone who follows the mining and energy sectors, I’m curious to see if this situation has any ripple effects on Musk’s other business ventures, like Tesla and SpaceX. The potential for distraction and reputational damage is always a concern.
This story highlights the need for greater transparency and accountability when it comes to government programs and the distribution of funds. Fraud and misuse of taxpayer money should be vigorously investigated and prosecuted.
