In a surprising development, former U.S. President Donald Trump’s social media platform Truth Social features an artificial intelligence chatbot that appears to consistently contradict his own false and misleading claims on several key topics. The chatbot, called Truth Search AI and currently in beta testing, provides fact-based responses that directly refute numerous positions Trump has publicly maintained.
The AI-powered search tool, which runs on Perplexity AI technology according to an August company release, has generated responses that challenge Trump’s assertions on tariffs, the 2020 election, the January 6 Capitol riot, his war record, and economic claims.
When asked whether Trump’s tariffs cost Americans money, Truth Search AI responded affirmatively, stating, “Tariffs are taxes on imports that U.S. importers pay and largely pass on through higher prices, so the costs are borne mainly by American businesses and consumers.” This directly contradicts Trump’s campaign statements that tariffs have “nothing to do with taxes on us” and are instead “a tax on another country.”
White House spokesperson Kush Desai defended the administration’s position in an email to Snopes, claiming that “American consumers have the leverage and elasticity to make exporters ultimately pay the cost of tariffs.” However, this assertion runs counter to the economic consensus reflected in the AI’s response.
On the subject of the 2020 election, which Trump has repeatedly claimed was “stolen” and “rigged,” Truth Search AI offered a clear rebuttal. When asked if Trump lied about these claims, the chatbot answered “Yes,” noting that courts and Trump’s own advisers found no evidence supporting allegations of widespread fraud or a stolen election.
The AI also confirmed that the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot was directly linked to Trump’s rhetoric. In response to questioning about the cause of the insurrection, Truth Search AI stated that “many Jan. 6, 2021 rioters said they were motivated by Donald Trump’s false claims of a stolen election and his call to go to the Capitol after his Ellipse speech that day,” citing court findings, congressional investigations, and participant testimony.
Earlier this year, Trump granted clemency to more than 1,500 people charged in connection with the Capitol attack, including those documented violently assaulting law enforcement officers and extremist group leaders convicted of plotting to stop the transfer of power.
When asked about Trump’s accomplishments in ending wars since taking office in 2025, the AI was equally direct: “None. There is no verified instance of President Trump formally ending a war since taking office in January 2025.” This contradicts various claims Trump has made about his foreign policy success.
The chatbot also refuted Trump’s recent assertion to “60 Minutes” correspondent Norah O’Donnell that grocery prices were declining under his administration. When asked whether prices had fallen since January 2025, Truth Search AI responded, “Short answer: No,” explaining that while the rate of increase had slowed, grocery prices remained elevated and were still higher year-over-year, according to official inflation data. The Associated Press has reported that grocery prices in September 2025 were up 2.7% from the previous year.
The AI even addressed Trump’s characterization of Russian interference in the 2016 election as a “phony Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX.” When questioned about findings from the Senate Intelligence Committee, Truth Search AI confirmed that the bipartisan, Republican-led committee had indeed concluded that Russia’s 2016 operation posed a “grave counterintelligence threat” and that several Trump associates were “receptive to—and sought to exploit—Moscow’s assistance.”
Neither Trump Media & Technology Group, which owns Truth Social, nor the White House has provided comprehensive responses addressing why the platform’s own AI tool consistently contradicts the president’s claims across multiple topics with fact-based information from credible sources.

I’m skeptical that Trump will allow this AI chatbot to continue operating if it keeps undermining his own statements. This could be a temporary situation before the platform intervenes.
It’s good to see an AI tool providing accurate, unbiased information on issues where Trump has made false or misleading claims in the past. Hopefully this can help counter the spread of misinformation.
Interesting to see an AI chatbot on Trump’s social media platform contradict some of his false claims. I’m curious to learn more about how the chatbot’s responses stack up against the facts.
The AI chatbot’s fact-based responses on topics like tariffs, the 2020 election, and the Capitol riot seem to be a refreshing contrast to Trump’s usual rhetoric. I’m curious to see if this leads to any changes in how he communicates going forward.
This is an unexpected development. It’ll be interesting to see how Trump and his supporters respond to an AI on his own platform pushing back on his misleading statements.
I wonder if the chatbot will be allowed to continue operating if it keeps contradicting Trump’s narratives. This could get awkward for him.
