In a dramatic development within the Daystar TV empire, Josh Brown has forcefully denied allegations that he attempted to molest his 5-year-old niece, recording his side of the story in an hour-long interview with Colleyville Police Detective Nick Garcia.

Brown, the 43-year-old director of business development at Daystar, claimed he has endured four years of false accusations that have turned his life into a “nightmare.” During the March 14 interview, he pinned the blame on Jonathan Lamb, the child’s father and former heir apparent to the Christian television network following the 2021 death of co-founder Marcus Lamb.

The family power struggle intensified after Marcus Lamb’s widow, Joni, who now leads the network, removed Jonathan from his position as vice president and his wife Suzy from her co-hosting role on their program. According to Brown, the couple is using false accusations against him in a desperate attempt to regain their positions within the organization.

“This is my life we’re dealing with over a job,” Brown said. “They’re using me to try and get a job and that ship has sailed and now they’re Hail Mary-ing. This is not right. This is not justice.”

The controversy centers around an incident at a family vacation house in Miramar Beach, Florida in August 2021. Jonathan and Suzy allege that Brown followed their then-5-year-old daughter upstairs after Suzy told the girl to change into her bathing suit. According to their account, Jonathan found Brown with their naked daughter in a bedroom.

Brown categorically denied this version of events, claiming he went upstairs with the girl’s 8-year-old brother, Israel, to see a “city view” while amusing his own 1-year-old son. “I never saw her undressed or changing dress or otherwise,” Brown stated. “All I remember is just screaming and, and I’m thinking, what the heck? Where is this coming from?”

The allegations have gone beyond family disputes. Brown claims he’s received death threats, been stalked at his gym, and his association with the Melbourne-based band PlanetShakers, where he serves as chief marketing officer, has been jeopardized by messages calling him a “pedophile.”

In January interviews with Detective Garcia, Jonathan’s sister Rebecca and her husband Jonathan “J.W.” Weiss made additional allegations that Brown had inappropriately kissed the child on the mouth. Brown firmly denied this, saying, “I have not kissed her on the lips,” describing any affection shown as “playful” and “certainly not intimate.”

The case has exposed deep fissures within the Lamb family dynasty, which has built Daystar into a successful Christian television network. Brown depicted a family torn by ambition and resentment, saying he “never really got along” with J.W. and Rebecca Weiss, while claiming Jonathan and Suzy’s stories have changed multiple times.

Following the 2021 incident, the family consulted Denise Boggs, an unlicensed pastoral counselor, who brought in licensed forensic counselor Debbie Leonhardt to interview all parties involved. According to previous reporting, Leonhardt was unable to make a proper assessment because, she said, Brown’s wife answered all questions for him, and Brown refused to return for further evaluation.

Two months after interviewing Brown, Colleyville police closed the case without filing charges, stating the child had not “made an outcry,” but adding they would reopen the investigation if she did.

“This is absolutely ridiculous that somebody can make a claim like this, of this significance with this severity, with no factual, nothing, with no evidence, with no credibility whatsoever and ruin a person’s life and get away with it,” Brown said, maintaining his innocence throughout the interview.

The case continues to divide the Daystar family, with the network’s future leadership hanging in the balance as accusations and denials further strain relationships within the once-united Christian media empire.
