Iranian officials have issued a stern warning to the United Arab Emirates over what they describe as “subversive actions” against Tehran, heightening tensions in an already volatile region.

In a strongly worded statement released yesterday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned Abu Dhabi for allegedly colluding with “hostile parties” against the Islamic Republic, specifically citing the continued hosting of foreign military bases and equipment on UAE soil.

The diplomatic rebuke comes amid escalating regional tensions following recent military exchanges between Iran and Israel, and increased U.S. naval presence in the Persian Gulf. According to Tasnim News Agency, which first reported the statement, Iranian officials warned of “serious repercussions” for regional peace and stability if such actions continue.

The Iranian statement directly linked recent developments to “illegal and provocative actions by the terrorist U.S. forces in the region,” claiming American naval movements under what it called the “misleading guise of humanitarian operations” have exacerbated tensions.

Tehran specifically accused the UAE of adopting policies that “contradict the principle of good neighborliness and violate the fundamental principles of the UN Charter,” pointing to what it described as “blatant cooperation” with the United States that threatens Iranian national security interests.

Notably, the Foreign Ministry rejected what it called “false claims” from Abu Dhabi regarding Iranian missile and drone launches toward UAE territory. The statement emphasized that Iran’s recent military operations were “solely aimed at repelling American aggression” and characterized as defensive in nature.

The diplomatic confrontation highlights the complex web of alliances and rivalries in the Middle East. The UAE has strengthened its security ties with the United States in recent years, hosting American military personnel and equipment, while also seeking to maintain workable diplomatic relations with neighboring Iran.

Regional analysts note this latest exchange signals a potential deterioration in Iran-UAE relations at a time when broader regional stability remains precarious. The UAE has walked a delicate line in recent years, pursuing normalized relations with Israel through the Abraham Accords while attempting to avoid direct confrontation with Iran.

Despite its forceful language, the Iranian statement emphasized that Tehran has exercised “the utmost restraint, driven by its responsible approach and its concern for the common good of the region and the Muslim world.” The ministry reiterated Iran’s commitment to UN Charter principles, international law, and “good neighborliness in its relations with all countries in the region.”

However, the statement concluded with what appears to be a direct threat, demanding Abu Dhabi “cease its collusion and partnership with hostile parties (the U.S. and the Zionist entity) in committing acts that violate international law against Iran.” It warned that “the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to take all necessary and appropriate measures to defend its interests and national security.”

The timing of this diplomatic row coincides with increased U.S. military presence in the region, with American officials citing the need to protect shipping lanes and regional allies amid heightened tensions.

Neither UAE officials nor the U.S. State Department have issued formal responses to Iran’s accusations as of press time. The situation remains fluid as regional powers continue to navigate the complex geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.
