British authorities are intensifying their investigations into a troubling rise in fraudulent immigration claims after a BBC investigation uncovered widespread exploitation of asylum and domestic abuse provisions in the UK immigration system.

The Home Office has confirmed it was already examining an increasing trend of fake claims, particularly those from individuals falsely claiming to be gay or victims of domestic violence.
