Former Hypeman Drops Underage Sex Claims in Revised Lawsuit Against Fat Joe

A significant shift has occurred in the legal battle between rapper Fat Joe and his former hypeman Terrance “T.A.” Dixon, as Dixon has quietly removed all references to underage sex allegations from a newly amended version of his lawsuit.

Dixon initially sued Fat Joe, whose real name is Joseph Cartagena, last year with wide-ranging accusations including sex trafficking, fraud, and racketeering. Most notably, the original complaint contained serious allegations that Dixon had “personally witnessed” Fat Joe engage in “sexual relations” with two underage girls aged 15 and 16.

However, in an amended complaint filed in court on Thursday, these explosive claims of underage sexual encounters have been completely removed. The revised lawsuit also drops previous allegations made under the Federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) law. Dixon’s attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, has not provided any comment regarding the decision to withdraw these accusations.

The removal of these claims represents a significant development in the ongoing legal dispute. Fat Joe has consistently maintained that Dixon’s allegations were fabricated as part of an extortion attempt to force a financial settlement. In fact, months before Dixon filed his original lawsuit, Fat Joe had preemptively filed his own legal action against Dixon, claiming the hypeman was threatening to sue him over “grotesque” false claims, including what he described as “unspeakable acts such as pedophilia,” unless he received payment.

Despite the removal of the most serious accusations, Dixon’s amended complaint still contains substantial allegations against the “Lean Back” rapper. The lawsuit continues to claim that Fat Joe violated the Trafficking Victims Protection Act by allegedly coercing Dixon to work for him and participate in non-consensual sexual encounters. Additional claims focus more on business disputes, including allegations that Dixon was denied proper wages and was not given appropriate credit as a co-writer on certain songs.

Jordan Siev, Fat Joe’s attorney, issued a statement to Billboard characterizing the accusations as “nothing more than an elaborate shakedown to extract money from him.” Siev further stated, “Their decision to now voluntarily amend Mr. Dixon’s complaint — removing all allegations involving transporting of minors, statutory rape and RICO — and recast this matter primarily as a financial dispute about royalties and wages allegedly owed only reinforces that the allegations were baseless and that Mr. Cartagena is the one being targeted.”

Meanwhile, Fat Joe’s countersuit against Dixon continues to advance through the legal system. Earlier this month, a federal judge declined to dismiss the rapper’s claims that Dixon and his attorney legally defamed him by publicly airing their allegations. This ruling allows Fat Joe’s defamation claims to proceed toward trial. Dixon and Blackburn are reportedly attempting to appeal this decision.

The dispute highlights the complex nature of legal battles in the entertainment industry, where allegations of misconduct can cause significant reputational damage regardless of their ultimate validity. For Fat Joe, a Grammy-nominated artist known for hits like “What’s Luv?” and “All the Way Up,” the removal of the most serious allegations may provide some vindication for his claims that he was being targeted in an extortion scheme.

This case continues to develop as both parties pursue their respective legal claims, with the focus now shifting from criminal allegations to disputes over business arrangements and proper compensation.
