BLISSUE Entertainment has publicly denied any financial or legal connections to Blissus Inc., a company reportedly owned by BLACKPINK member Jisoo’s older brother. The statement came after speculation arose about potential conflicts of interest following Jisoo’s signing with the newly established agency.
The entertainment company issued a formal clarification on Tuesday, emphasizing that BLISSUE Entertainment and Blissus Inc. are entirely separate entities despite their similar names. According to the statement, the two companies maintain no financial ties, management relationships, or legal connections.
“We want to clearly state that BLISSUE Entertainment has no financial investment from, shares with, or management involvement with Blissus Inc.,” a company representative said. “Our name similarity is coincidental and has led to unfortunate misunderstandings in the media and among fans.”
The confusion originated after industry observers noted that Jisoo’s brother, Kim Jung-hoon, is registered as the CEO of Blissus Inc., a company established in 2019 that operates in the lifestyle and content creation sector. When Jisoo announced in February that she would be joining BLISSUE Entertainment as her new management agency after leaving YG Entertainment, questions emerged about potential family connections influencing her decision.
BLISSUE Entertainment was founded late last year by former YG Entertainment executives who had previously worked with BLACKPINK. The agency has positioned itself as a boutique entertainment company focusing on artist development and global expansion strategies.
Industry analysts have been closely monitoring Jisoo’s career moves since her departure from YG Entertainment, where BLACKPINK rose to global prominence. As one of K-pop’s most recognizable faces, her signing with any agency represents a significant business opportunity and potential stock value impact.
Kim Min-jung, a K-pop industry analyst with Seoul Financial Partners, explained the importance of transparency in these situations: “When high-profile artists move agencies, especially to newly formed companies, investors and fans naturally scrutinize the business relationships involved. Clear separation between family businesses and artist management is essential for avoiding conflicts of interest.”
BLISSUE Entertainment also addressed rumors about its funding structure in the statement, confirming that its investment capital comes solely from established entertainment industry investors with no connection to Jisoo’s family.
The company outlined its future plans with Jisoo, which include both music and acting projects scheduled for later this year. Since signing with BLISSUE, Jisoo has continued her brand ambassador roles with luxury houses Dior and Cartier while preparing for her first solo music release since “ME” in March 2023.
BLACKPINK members have all established individual management arrangements following the expiration of their exclusive contracts with YG Entertainment last year, though they remain connected to YG for group activities. Jennie formed her own company called ODD ATELIER, Lisa signed with RCA Records internationally while maintaining her own management company LLOUD, and Rosé recently announced her signing with THE BLACK LABEL.
The K-pop industry has seen an increasing trend of established artists either creating their own agencies or joining smaller, specialized management companies after completing initial contracts with larger entertainment corporations. This shift reflects artists’ growing desire for greater creative control and more favorable profit-sharing arrangements as they mature in their careers.
Market observers note that clear corporate governance and transparency are becoming increasingly important as the K-pop industry continues to attract significant global investment. South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission has also been monitoring entertainment companies more closely in recent years, particularly regarding potential conflicts of interest in artist management.
BLISSUE Entertainment concluded its statement by requesting that media outlets correct any misinformation regarding its corporate structure and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Jisoo’s artistic development independently of any family connections.

The name similarity between the two companies does seem like an unfortunate coincidence that could easily lead to confusion. It’s good they’ve issued a formal statement to set the record straight.
With the rise of celebrity-owned businesses, it’s understandable why fans and observers would scrutinize any potential conflicts of interest. Kudos to BLISSUE for addressing this promptly.
