BLACKPINK member Jisoo has officially distanced herself from a family controversy through a statement released by her legal representation. The statement aims to address growing speculation linking the K-pop star to recent allegations involving a family member.

On April 20, Eun Hyun-ho, an attorney at the prestigious Kim & Chang Law Offices representing Jisoo’s agency Blysu, released a comprehensive statement clarifying the artist’s position. The statement firmly declares that “the matter currently raised is entirely unrelated to the artist and Blysu,” referring to Jisoo and her management company, while dismissing online speculation as “unverified” or “clearly false.”

The controversy emerged after reports that a man identified only as “A,” allegedly the biological brother of a famous female K-pop idol, had been arrested on suspicion of molesting a female BJ (broadcast jockey). This prompted widespread online speculation pointing to Jisoo’s brother as the individual in question.

The legal statement emphasizes Jisoo’s independent lifestyle from an early age, noting that she “began her trainee life at a young age and became independent early on, living apart from her family for a long period.” This separation, the lawyer argues, made it “impossible [for Jisoo] to be aware of or involved in this individual’s private life.”

Addressing rumors about family involvement in her business affairs, the statement acknowledges that Jisoo did receive “limited advice” from family members during Blysu’s establishment and acted as a communication conduit. However, it firmly denies that any family members have received compensation from the company or participated in decision-making processes. The lawyer specifically refuted claims circulating in some media outlets that Jisoo and the individual in question “established the company together” or that this person holds an executive position at Blysu.

“Blysu and the artist are not providing any financial or legal support to this individual, nor do they plan to provide such support in the future,” the statement asserts, adding that there has been “no contact or involvement regarding this matter.”

The controversy comes at a pivotal time for Jisoo, who has been expanding her career beyond BLACKPINK’s massive global success. After the group’s record-breaking world tour and her earlier acting debut in the drama “Snowdrop,” Jisoo launched her solo music career in 2023. She also recently appeared at a production announcement for Netflix’s upcoming series “Monthly Boyfriend.”
