Despite national reports of shutdowns, Bay City’s MAGA Burger remains open for business, the restaurant’s management has confirmed. The Trump-themed burger chain, which has made headlines due to legal disputes and immigration controversies surrounding its founders, has been the subject of widespread speculation about its operational status.

Mela Mahdi, General Manager of Advertising for the Bay City location, emphasized that while many national media outlets have reported the chain’s demise, their restaurant continues to serve customers and has no plans to close.

“We will stay with the MAGA Burger name. The store as is will remain,” Mahdi stated.

The confusion stems from a series of widely circulated reports by prominent outlets including The Independent, The Street, and Yahoo Finance. Even Wikipedia had updated the Trump Burger entry to list the chain as “defunct.” These reports primarily focused on closures and legal issues affecting Houston-area locations, as well as immigration proceedings involving one of the founders, Roland Mehrez Beainy.

According to Mahdi, the Bay City restaurant has faced challenges that she characterizes as politically motivated. She claims the location has experienced vandalism, with individuals allegedly removing flags and promotional materials from the property, leading to multiple police reports being filed. These claims have not been independently verified.

“Everything is quality, but people ignore it because we’re supporting the president,” Mahdi said. “They just don’t want to support us because the owner is an immigrant.”

The restaurant manager also disputed reports about co-owner Beainy’s immigration status, stating “He has not been deported by ICE.” However, this assertion contradicts an August statement from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which confirmed Beainy had been detained for overstaying his visa before being released on bond pending further immigration proceedings.

Mahdi further alleged that the restaurant has experienced difficulty maintaining an online presence, claiming “They won’t post us on Google Maps. We schedule, we post, we reach out — but they ignore us.” These allegations regarding Google or online suppression have not been independently confirmed.

The situation highlights the challenges facing politically themed businesses in today’s polarized climate. While some Trump-branded enterprises have thrived by catering to supporters of the former president, others have encountered resistance or faced operational difficulties.

Despite closures affecting other locations within the chain, Mahdi insists the business is making adjustments rather than shutting down completely. “We didn’t shut down everything, we are relocating,” she explained, suggesting strategic repositioning rather than a complete closure of the brand.

For now, the Bay City location continues to operate under the MAGA Burger brand, serving customers even as controversies continue to surround the chain elsewhere in Texas. The restaurant’s persistence demonstrates the complex interplay between politics, business, and consumer choices in the current American landscape.

Local residents seeking clarification on the restaurant’s status can confirm that, contrary to national reports, the Bay City MAGA Burger remains open for business, with its distinctive signage still visible outside the establishment.
