Angus Cloud’s Mother Files Lawsuit Against Law Firm Over Estate Claims
Lisa Cloud, mother of late “Euphoria” actor Angus Cloud, has filed a lawsuit against Sacramento-based Hackard Law, alleging the firm made false claims against her son’s estate. The lawsuit, filed on October 31, comes more than two years after the actor’s death from an accidental overdose at age 25.
According to court documents, Lisa Cloud alleges that attorney Michael Hackard and his associate Brian Geremia have caused her emotional distress and elder abuse through what she describes as “false and frivolous claims” against her son’s estate, which was valued at approximately $50,000 following his death.
The legal dispute centers on allegations made by Jonathan Kim, who claims to have been Angus Cloud’s personal assistant. Represented by Hackard Law, Kim filed a claim seeking $310,000 in unpaid wages and commission from the actor’s estate.
In her civil complaint, Lisa Cloud categorically denies Kim’s claims, stating they are “entirely fabricated” and lack supporting evidence. She points to the absence of employment or tax documentation to substantiate Kim’s employment status, and notes that her son had other assistants on payroll during the time period in question.
“This lawsuit is about accountability and fairness,” Lisa Cloud told reporters in a statement. “My goal has always been to protect my son’s legacy and the integrity of his estate from wrongful legal actions that caused unnecessary harm and distress.”
The situation intensified when Lisa sent a private letter to the attorneys that she claims they subsequently shared in breach of confidentiality. Following this alleged breach, Lisa states that Kim sent threatening messages suggesting he would have her imprisoned, causing her to “fear for her physical safety.”
Financial burden has accompanied the emotional toll, with Lisa reporting approximately $64,000 in legal fees spent fighting the claims against her son’s estate. She alleges that before filing her lawsuit, she attempted to resolve the matter by providing evidence that Kim was no longer in Angus’s life after what she described as a “public altercation.”
In a letter to a judge earlier this year, Lisa claimed that Kim had admitted to her that his attorneys pressured him to claim $195,000 in commissions from the estate. According to Lisa, Kim told her that the attorneys would not represent him unless the amount was “worth their while.”
“I have great respect for the court system and for the many honest attorneys who work with compassion and integrity,” Lisa stated. “No family should have to endure this kind of abuse of process after losing a loved one. I’m seeking resolution and dignity, truth and respect.”
This is not the first legal challenge to face the late actor’s estate. Previous lawsuits include an unpaid $4,000 Verizon Wireless bill and a claim from his former manager for nearly $95,000 in unpaid commissions.
Angus Cloud gained fame playing drug dealer Fezco in HBO’s hit series “Euphoria” from 2019 through 2022, starring alongside Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney. His death in July 2023 at his family home in Oakland, California, was ruled an accidental overdose of cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. The tragedy came shortly after the death of his father.
In an emotional interview months after her son’s passing, Lisa Cloud described finding Angus unresponsive at his desk in his childhood bedroom. Despite her desperate attempts to resuscitate him, he could not be revived.
“I miss him so much,” she said at the time. “He was the love of my life.”
Representatives from Hackard Law have not yet publicly responded to the allegations.
