False Spy Allegations Rock Fort Bend County Clerk Race

A Hispanic Fort Bend County employee has become the unwitting victim of false espionage accusations after being misidentified as a high-ranking Chinese Communist Party official during a local podcast interview. The allegations represent the latest chapter in an increasingly contentious Republican primary race for Fort Bend County Clerk.

Solomon Yue, presented as an expert on Chinese government espionage, appeared on the “Chris Heasley Show” earlier this week where he falsely identified a Hispanic county employee who works in Fort Bend County Judge KP George’s office as “Wang Jain,” claiming the man reported directly to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The employee, described as a longtime Fort Bend County resident, has declined to comment publicly on the situation. His name is being withheld by local media to protect him from potential retaliation by viewers who may have believed the false allegations.

The accusations stem from a photograph taken during a visit to Fort Bend County by a Chinese delegation on a North American tour. Yue claimed the Hispanic employee was part of that delegation and deliberately seated next to county clerk candidate J.J. Clemence as part of a spying operation targeting the United States.

“This guy actually reports to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, directly,” Yue stated during the podcast. “He did not sit with the rest of the delegation; he sat right next to JJ. So, in other words, he is here infiltrating us.”

However, Yue’s credibility came into question during the interview when he was unable to provide Clemence’s Chinese name, stumbling through his response: “I go by, uh, her, you know, English name, JJ Clemence.”

Tamara McFarlane, Clemence’s opponent in the March Republican primary, amplified these claims on social media, describing Yue as a “CCP hunter” and senior Republican National Committee official while labeling Clemence “a CCP operative.” McFarlane further alleged that Clemence was “using Marxist strategies to spark racial tensions, dividing neighbors while pushing foreign agendas that undermine American values and democracy.”

After being contacted about the false information, the podcast video appears to have been removed. Both Heasley and McFarlane declined requests for comment.

This isn’t the first time such accusations have surfaced. Weeks ago, Katy Christian Magazine investigated McFarlane’s claims against Clemence and found them to be “baseless and dangerous.”

Clemence, who immigrated to the United States from China and became a U.S. citizen more than two decades ago, has consistently denied any affiliation with the Chinese Communist Party. Her credentials include appointments to two state commissions by Governor Greg Abbott and previous roles in community outreach for Congressmen Troy Nehls and Pete Olson.

According to Congressman Nehls, Clemence underwent a security clearance before working for him and Olson. Many photographs taken while she performed her official duties for these representatives have been mischaracterized as evidence of CCP support.

The Clemence campaign has highlighted her Republican credentials, noting that she has voted in every Republican March Primary since registering to vote, while McFarlane has never voted in a GOP March Primary. Clemence has also served as an elected GOP precinct chair, worked on the GOP Finance Committee, and is a certified auditor with endorsements from retiring County Clerk Laura Richard and more than 25 GOP precinct chairs.

In a telling development after the initial reporting on this story, Yue—who was presented by Heasley as an unbiased expert dealing only in facts—appeared to abandon any pretense of neutrality. Republican primary voters began receiving mass text messages from him attacking Clemence, further undermining his earlier claims of objectivity.

The escalation of false allegations in this local race reflects broader tensions in American politics, where accusations of foreign influence have become increasingly common in campaign rhetoric, sometimes with little regard for factual accuracy.
