In a strong rebuttal to allegations that led to his dismissal from British deathcore band Ingested, former vocalist Josh Davies has categorically denied all claims of sexual misconduct made against him.

The controversy became public last month when Ingested announced Davies’ immediate departure with a terse statement: “Effective immediately, Josh Davies is no longer a member of Ingested. Adam Mercer will be handling vocal duties on the upcoming Bodysnatcher tour.” At the time, no explanation was provided for the sudden lineup change.

Davies broke his silence on March 7th through a comprehensive statement on Instagram, where he firmly rejected the allegations that have circulated across social media platforms. “I categorically deny all allegations that have been circulated on social media. Any suggestion that I have abused or taken advantage of anyone is completely untrue,” Davies stated.

In his detailed response, the vocalist addressed multiple specific accusations that apparently contributed to his removal from the band. One allegation centered on an incident allegedly occurring on July 7th, 2022. Davies claims to possess documentation proving he was at work during the day, attended a concert that evening, and returned to work early the following morning—a timeline he says contradicts the accusations made against him.

Davies also confronted allegations regarding communications with an individual he claims he believed was of similar age to him. According to his statement, he was 21 years old at the time and was unaware the person was under 18 when initial contact occurred.

Another accusation, made anonymously in a video, was similarly disputed by Davies. He maintains evidence shows the person involved was actually 21, not underage as alleged. He also rejected assertions that he met this individual while they were intoxicated, noting that he was sober during that period of his life.

The metal scene has seen numerous allegations of misconduct emerge in recent years, with social media providing platforms for accusers to share experiences. While some cases have resulted in criminal charges, many situations have been addressed primarily within the industry itself, often leading to band member dismissals or tour cancellations.

Davies noted in his statement that no law enforcement agencies have contacted him regarding the allegations. “To date, I have not been contacted by the police and I am not currently under investigation,” he wrote.

The vocalist indicated he has begun pursuing legal advice and may take further action regarding what he characterized as false claims and harassment. “Harassment, malicious communications and defamation carry both criminal and civil consequences, and I will not accept the continued spread of false allegations,” Davies warned in his statement.

He concluded by noting that due to the seriousness of the situation and potential legal proceedings, he would not be making additional public comments at this time.

Ingested, formed in 2006 in Manchester, England, has been a prominent fixture in the extreme metal scene for nearly two decades. The band has not issued any follow-up statements regarding Davies’ departure or the allegations against him. Adam Mercer, announced as the touring replacement, has been handling vocal duties for the band’s recent performances.

The allegations and subsequent lineup change come at a challenging time for the band, which had been building momentum following the release of their latest album and extensive touring schedules across Europe and North America. How this situation will impact their standing in the deathcore community remains to be seen.
