Pakistani authorities have launched a sweeping investigation into what they describe as a coordinated disinformation campaign targeting the religious-political party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), according to government sources.

The crackdown comes in response to what officials characterize as a sophisticated fake news operation that spread misleading information about recent TLP activities. The government has mobilized multiple agencies, including the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing, to identify and prosecute individuals involved in creating and disseminating false content.

Security officials speaking on condition of anonymity revealed that investigators have identified what they term a “deepfake lab” believed to be responsible for producing manipulated videos and audio recordings. Digital forensics experts are currently analyzing these materials to determine their origin and the techniques used to create them.
