As online information ecosystems continue to evolve, understanding the unintended consequences of digital engagement becomes increasingly important. The most effective individual action against disinformation may not be the most instinctive one – instead of calling out falsehoods directly, simply refusing to amplify them might be the most powerful response.

The challenge represents a significant shift in how users must approach their responsibility as digital citizens. While the impulse to correct falsehoods is admirable, the mechanics of modern information systems demand more strategic approaches to prevent harmful content from reaching vulnerable audiences.
