Kubbra Sait Praises ‘Dhurandhar’ as “Banging, Well-Made Film,” Weighs In on Propaganda Debate
Actor Kubbra Sait has joined the growing conversation around the spy thriller “Dhurandhar,” praising both the film and lead actor Ranveer Singh’s performance while addressing the ongoing propaganda debate surrounding the production.
In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Sait expressed her admiration for the film. “I really loved Dhurandhar. I thought it was a banging, well-made film,” she said. The “Sankalp” star revealed she has only seen the first installment but plans to watch “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” soon.
The spy thriller has generated significant buzz among audiences and critics alike, becoming one of the most discussed Indian films in recent months. While commercial success has followed, so has controversy, with some viewers questioning the film’s political messaging.
Addressing the propaganda allegations that have dominated social media discussions, Sait offered a measured take. “As far as the propaganda conversation goes, I would just say, it’s been narrated from a perspective, and one should appreciate that, which is fair. And as a film, it works well, and it’s a good film.”
Sait reserved particular praise for Ranveer Singh’s central performance. “Ranveer’s performance, he was so good, like so good,” she emphasized. Adding a light-hearted note, the actor joked about her resemblance to Singh’s character Hamza. “I feel like I look a bit like Ranveer with the green eyes and curly hair! I think I look like Hamza — I can even draw a sketch and show you the similarity.”
Currently riding high on the success of her recent series “Sankalp,” Sait also discussed her broader content preferences. “I love watching everything,” she explained, citing the romantic comedy “Nobody Wants This” among her current favorites. “I love the fact that she’s a complicated girl with an emotionally available guy. I really enjoy that kind of dynamic.”
Sait’s viewing habits reflect a diverse palette. She mentioned following reality programming like “Love Is Blind,” watching the thought-provoking drama “Pluribus,” and enjoying science fiction. “I have a very large landscape of projects I enjoy, and a lot of them excite me, so I’m always quite happy watching content,” she said.
When asked about her all-time favorite film, Sait didn’t hesitate to name Pixar’s “Soul.” She recommended the animated feature as universally appealing: “It’s such a beautiful film. It’s an adult-animated movie, so you can watch it with your kids or with your partner. They’ll enjoy it, and you will too.”
“Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” the sequel to the film Sait praised, features an impressive ensemble cast including Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Danish Pandor, and Rakesh Bedi. The film was released theatrically on March 19, 2026.
The “Dhurandhar” franchise has emerged as a significant entry in India’s growing spy thriller genre, following in the footsteps of successful series like “Tiger” and “Pathaan.” These films have demonstrated significant commercial potential both domestically and internationally, with their high-octane action sequences and nationalist themes often sparking debates similar to those Sait addressed.
As Indian cinema continues to expand its global footprint, the conversation around how political perspectives are portrayed in mainstream entertainment remains a complex and evolving discussion among critics, audiences, and industry insiders alike.
