President Trump Touts Devastating Impact of Military Operations Against Iran

President Donald Trump declared Friday that U.S. military operations against Iran have been overwhelmingly successful, nearly a week after coordinated airstrikes with Israel that resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

“Somebody said, ‘How would you score it from zero to 10?’ I said, ‘I’d give it a 12 to a 15,'” Trump stated during a White House college sports roundtable. “Their army is gone. Their navy is gone. Their communications are gone. Their leaders are gone. Two sets of their leaders.”

The president painted a picture of comprehensive military dominance, claiming that Iran’s air force has been “wiped out entirely” and that all 32 of Iran’s naval vessels are now “at the bottom of the ocean.” These statements represent one of the most detailed accounts of the damage inflicted on Iran’s military infrastructure since operations began.

Trump’s comments came in response to a question from Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy, who asked about the timing of the college sports event given significant global developments. The president used the opportunity to emphasize what he characterized as decisive military action against a threat to American lives.

“Our military is doing phenomenally,” Trump said, explaining that the U.S. faced a choice between continuing to endure attacks that were killing or maiming Americans or taking definitive action. “We had a choice. We could take it and go on like that for years or do something about it. And we did something about it.”

The military operation represents a significant escalation in U.S.-Iranian relations, which have deteriorated dramatically since Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in 2018. Tensions had been building over recent months with Iran-backed proxies targeting American forces in the Middle East.

The president also referenced other recent military operations, including unspecified actions in Venezuela and prior strikes by B-2 bombers that he said eliminated Iran’s nuclear capabilities or potential. “I think we’re, right now, we’re a country that’s more respected than we’ve ever been respected before,” Trump added.

Earlier Friday, Trump had posted on his Truth Social platform that the United States would accept nothing short of “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER” from Iran. He outlined a vision for Iran’s future following the selection of new leadership, writing that the U.S. and allies would “work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.”

Trump concluded his post with the phrase “MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!),” echoing his familiar campaign slogan.

When pressed about reports that Russia might be helping Iran target Americans, Trump dismissed it as “an easy problem compared to what we’re doing here,” calling it a “stupid question” inappropriate for the college sports discussion.

The military campaign against Iran represents one of the most significant U.S. military operations in the Middle East in recent years. The death of Khamenei, who had been Iran’s supreme leader since 1989, creates a major power vacuum in the region and uncertainty about how the Iranian leadership will respond to these devastating strikes.

The impact of these military operations extends beyond security concerns, with potential implications for global oil markets, regional stability, and international alliances. Iran’s reduced ability to disrupt shipping through the Strait of Hormuz—a critical chokepoint for global oil transport—could affect Russia’s and China’s access to vital energy resources.

As the situation continues to develop, questions remain about Iran’s remaining military capabilities, the political future of the country, and the long-term implications of these strikes on regional security dynamics.
