Violence Erupts Between Protesters at Anti-Islam Rally Near NYC Mayor’s Residence

Police moved quickly to apprehend three individuals connected to the incident, including both the person who threw the device and the one who supplied the second object.
No injuries were reported, and Mayor Zohran Mamdani was not believed to be at the residence when the clash occurred.
The anti-Islam protest was reportedly associated with conservative influencer Jake Lang, who has a controversial background. Lang was previously charged with assaulting a police officer with a baseball bat and other crimes related to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. He later received clemency as part of former President Donald Trump’s pardons for January 6 defendants.
Lang, who recently announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate in Florida, has a history of political activism. During the Trump administration, he also participated in protests in Minneapolis against immigration policies.
