Russell Crowe Sets Record Straight on Age Gap With Girlfriend

Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe has publicly addressed misleading reports about the age difference between him and his girlfriend Britney Theriot, clarifying that the gap is 18 years, not 30 as widely reported.

“I have clarified this on many occasions, but some people prefer the fiction,” Crowe stated on his X/Twitter account. “It is so ungentlemanly to do this. However, my lovely Britney is 42 years of age. I am 61.”

The “Gladiator” star, who has been dating Theriot for five years, further defended their relationship in a separate post. “An 18-year age difference isn’t that scandalous in my opinion, and it’s nobody’s business what other people’s lives are. If two people love each other, age doesn’t matter!”

This public correction comes amid a busy period for Crowe professionally, as he promotes his new film “Nuremberg,” which has been generating early Oscar buzz. The actor, whose career spans three decades with iconic roles in films like “Gladiator” and “A Beautiful Mind,” has maintained a higher profile in recent months both for his professional and personal life.

Earlier this year, the couple sparked engagement rumors when Theriot was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her left hand during their appearance at Wimbledon. However, Crowe quickly dispelled these rumors during an interview with “60 Minutes.”

“All these reports coming out that Britney and I are engaged and I’m going to get married again? No. My life is joyous and happy, why ruin that with a wedding?” said Crowe, who was previously married to actress and singer Danielle Spencer from 2003 to 2018.

He emphasized his contentment with the current state of his relationship, adding, “I’m not gonna get married again. Doing it once is cool, but I don’t want to get married again.” Crowe described his relationship with Theriot in simple but affectionate terms: “We respect each other and wake up with a smile, and we are very happy.”

Beyond addressing his personal life, Crowe has also been open about his recent physical transformation. The actor revealed he has lost 57 pounds, bringing his weight down from approximately 278 pounds to 222 pounds through a wellness program called Ways2Well.

During an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, Crowe detailed his health journey, explaining that the program has helped him address long-standing inflammation issues stemming from arthritis and previous injuries.

“The real benefit I’m getting, I think, because I’m not completely over the science, but it seems to be with these injections that I’ve been getting into my shoulders, my knees, but also these IVs, that it calmed down my body’s inflammation,” Crowe explained.

He credited the program with allowing him to exercise more effectively without suffering afterwards. “Ways2Well was a great call for me because it calmed down a bunch of stuff. It’s taking a bunch of pain away so I can go and work out and not have to suffer for two or three hours afterwards.”

According to its website, Ways2Well utilizes “innovative diagnostic testing, physician-guided treatment plans, and a focus on whole-body wellness” to help clients identify and address potential health concerns proactively.

Crowe’s openness about both his relationship and health journey comes as the 61-year-old actor continues to navigate a career renaissance, balancing major film roles with personal well-being, demonstrating that public figures increasingly feel compelled to address misinformation directly rather than allowing incorrect narratives to persist.
