Iran has formally submitted former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments to the United Nations as evidence of Washington’s involvement in Israeli military actions against Iran, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.

“This admission of a crime establishes the full responsibility of the U.S. government,” Baghaei told reporters at his weekly press briefing in Tehran on Monday. He added that Iran is collaborating with its judiciary and the president’s legal office to pursue international proceedings.

The move comes after Trump claimed last week that he directed Israel’s strike on Iran during a conflict in June. “Israel attacked first. That attack was very, very powerful. I was very much in charge of that,” Trump told reporters.

Tehran is also compiling documentation of what it characterizes as U.S. and Israeli aggression for future legal action, according to the spokesman.

“We are seriously pursuing the documentation of the military aggression by the Israeli regime and the United States, and we are also examining all available international mechanisms to seek justice and file a complaint against the U.S.,” Baghaei stated.

During the briefing, Baghaei also addressed allegations regarding Iran’s activities in Mexico, dismissing them as “absurd and baseless.” He claimed that both the Mexican foreign ministry and intelligence agencies had confirmed there was no case against Iran, suggesting the accusations were part of “the Zionist regime’s ongoing effort to destroy Iran’s friendly relations with other states.”

The diplomatic tensions come amid continued international scrutiny of Iran’s nuclear program. Baghaei acknowledged that Iran’s nuclear activities would appear on the agenda of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s upcoming Board of Governors meeting, but characterized this as routine. He suggested, however, that Western powers might attempt to use the session to exert renewed political pressure on Tehran.

The spokesman also rejected recent criticism from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who accused Iran and Russia of undermining international rules. Baghaei countered that NATO member states themselves have repeatedly violated international law.

“Most of the actions carried out by NATO members themselves are the very ones they accuse others of committing. This requires no analysis – one only needs to look at the facts to see which side has violated international law and the UN Charter: Iran or the NATO member states,” he argued, pointing to the alliance’s interventions in Afghanistan and other regions as examples of breaches of international law.

When questioned about Trump’s separate remark suggesting Iran had requested sanctions relief from Washington, Baghaei clarified that lifting sanctions remains a “legitimate demand of the Iranian people” rather than a gesture of goodwill from the United States.

“These sanctions have been unjustly imposed on every Iranian for decades, and their humanitarian impact amounts to a crime against humanity,” he said, emphasizing that Iran continues to insist on the removal of what it terms “unlawful restrictions” as a prerequisite for any future negotiations with Western powers.

The escalating diplomatic rhetoric highlights the complex geopolitical challenges facing both Iran and the international community as tensions persist in the Middle East. With Iran now formally documenting what it perceives as U.S. and Israeli aggression, and seeking international legal remedies, the situation could potentially lead to further diplomatic complications in an already volatile region.
