The White House has issued a stark warning in its new National Security Strategy, claiming that Europe could become “unrecognizable in 20 years or less” due to mass migration. The 33-page document, released Thursday, raises concerns about potential “civilizational erasure” and questions whether future European nations will remain reliable U.S. allies.

“Should present trends continue, the continent will be unrecognizable in 20 years or less,” the document states, highlighting immigration as one of Europe’s most divisive political issues over the past decade. The strategy points to multiple waves of migrants from the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia that have transformed European demographics.

The administration’s concerns extend beyond cultural changes to strategic military implications, particularly for NATO. “Over the long term, it is more than plausible that within a few decades at the latest, certain NATO members will become majority non-European,” the document warns. “As such, it is an open question whether they will view their place in the world, or their alliance with the United States, in the same way as those who signed the NATO charter.”

The strategy cites several factors contributing to what it describes as Europe’s decline, including “cratering birthrates,” erosion of national identity, and migration policies that are “transforming the continent and creating strife.” It also points to economic regression, noting that Europe’s share of global GDP has fallen from 25% in 1990 to 14% today, attributing this partly to “national and transnational regulations that undermine creativity and industriousness.”

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly defended the assessment in a statement to Fox News Digital, saying: “The devastating impacts of unchecked migration and those migrants’ inability to assimilate are not just a concern for President Trump but for Europeans themselves, who have increasingly noted immigration as one of their top concerns.”

To support its position, the White House cited various European studies, including data showing asylum migration costing the Netherlands €475,000 per migrant and illegal immigration costing France €1.8 billion in 2023. The administration also referenced statistics indicating disproportionate rates of violent crime committed by non-Western migrants in Denmark and Germany, along with several terror attacks carried out by migrants across the continent.

President Donald Trump, who provided the foreword to the document, has previously expressed similar sentiments. During a visit to the United Kingdom last year, he warned that mass immigration would “destroy Europe” and that the continent was “not going to survive” without dramatic policy changes. Kelly added that Trump’s border policies “saved America from such destruction” and that “other countries would be wise to follow suit.”

The National Security Strategy represents a broader set of goals aimed at reasserting American influence globally. Notably, the document commits to enforcing the Monroe Doctrine with a new “Trump Corollary” focused on expanding U.S. influence in the Western Hemisphere while countering growing foreign adversarial presence in the region.

“After years of neglect, the United States will reassert and enforce the Monroe Doctrine to restore American preeminence in the Western Hemisphere, and to protect our homeland and our access to key geographies throughout the region,” the document states. It describes this approach as “a common-sense and potent restoration of American power and priorities, consistent with American security interests.”

The Monroe Doctrine, first issued by President James Monroe in 1823, warned European powers against interfering in the Western Hemisphere. Though initially overlooked by European nations, it eventually became a fundamental tenet of U.S. foreign policy.

The 33-page blueprint, featuring Trump’s foreword, presents what the president calls a “roadmap to ensure America remains the greatest and most successful nation in human history.” The document signals a significant shift in how the United States views its European allies and their long-term viability amid changing demographics and migration patterns.
