Ukraine Claims Evidence of Russian Intelligence Support to Iran, Zelenskyy Says

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed Tuesday that Kyiv has obtained “irrefutable evidence” that Russia is providing critical intelligence support to Iran, potentially complicating the geopolitical landscape as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s military intelligence chief Oleh Ivashchenko has compiled evidence showing that Moscow is sharing signals and electronic intelligence with Tehran, as well as data obtained through its partnerships with other Middle Eastern nations.

“By helping the Iranian regime stay afloat and strike more accurately, Russia is effectively prolonging the war. There must be a response,” Zelenskyy stated in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

The timing of this intelligence revelation is significant, coming three weeks into the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. The disclosure highlights the increasingly intertwined nature of global conflicts, as Russia’s actions in support of Iran could have ripple effects across multiple theaters of war.

However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry quickly denied these claims through state media, stating there was “no dialogue” between Tehran and Washington. The ministry deflected responsibility for the conflict, saying, “We are not the party that started this war, and all these requests should be referred to Washington,” according to reports from Iranian state broadcaster IRIB.
