Golden Globe nominations have been unveiled, showcasing an impressive lineup of talent from both film and television industries. Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” leads the pack with nine nominations, reinforcing its status as an Oscar frontrunner and delivering a significant win for Warner Bros. amid ongoing acquisition talks with Netflix.

Norwegian family drama “Sentimental Value,” directed by Joachim Trier, follows closely with eight nominations, highlighting the increasingly international character of the prestigious awards.

The ceremony is scheduled for January 11, broadcasting on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. Comedian Nikki Glaser returns for her second consecutive year as host, following positive reviews for her previous performance.

Several nominees have shared their reactions to the announcement. Director Ryan Coogler, nominated for his work on “Sinners” both as director and producer, expressed deep appreciation for his craft. “The biggest lesson for me, and it’s gonna sound cheesy, but the biggest lesson is just how much I love my job,” Coogler said. He also praised star Michael B. Jordan’s performance as his finest to date.

Rising star Chase Infiniti, nominated for best female actor in a musical or comedy for “One Battle After Another,” described her surprise at learning about her nomination. “I feel so lucky that I get the opportunity to tell an incredible story like this one. I feel so lucky to be where I am at 25,” she said, still processing her achievement.

Rose Byrne, also nominated in the best female actor category for “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” reflected on the creative challenge of her role. “The film is a tightrope. The character is a film, and the film is a character,” she explained, noting how the experience stretched her artistically.

Composer Stephen Schwartz received dual nominations in the best song category for “Wicked: For Good,” with both “No Place Like Home” and “The Girl in the Bubble” recognized. He praised director Jon M. Chu’s vision in adapting the Broadway musical to film. “We just got very lucky with the people who helped us to tell that story,” Schwartz said.

Author Maggie O’Farrell, nominated alongside director Chloé Zhao for best screenplay for “Hamnet,” described their collaborative process, including Zhao’s distinctive communication style. “Chloé is an amazing leaver of voice notes,” O’Farrell revealed, mentioning some messages stretching to 58 minutes.

South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook expressed satisfaction at his comedy “No Other Choice” receiving recognition in multiple categories, including best motion picture musical or comedy. “To be in this category that other people would have never imagined for me, I think it makes it even more enjoyable,” he said through a translator.

Veteran actress Amy Madigan, nominated for best supporting actress for “Weapons,” conveyed gratitude for the recognition later in her career. “When you do good work, hopefully it gets recognized and that’s not always the case,” she reflected.

Animation directors Jared Bush and Byron Howard celebrated their nominations for “Zootopia 2” by acknowledging the international team of 700 people from 25 countries who contributed to the film. “They put their hearts and souls into it and created something that I’m just so immensely proud of,” Bush said.

Norwegian director Joachim Trier expressed humility about the eight nominations for “Sentimental Value,” noting the significance for international cinema. “It’s not what you expect for a Norwegian film, but it says something about how generous the international film world has become,” he observed.

The nominations reflect the Golden Globes’ continued evolution as a global platform for recognizing excellence across diverse storytelling traditions and formats. This year’s selections embrace both established industry figures and emerging talents, positioning the ceremony as an important indicator of creative trends heading into the awards season.
